Electrical Controls Design EngineerPrimary Job Functions:Create schematics and cable harness drawings using AutoCAD ElectricalSelect power and instrumentation components to be used in the electrical system and create a bill of materialsCreate purchase requisitions for power and instrumentation componentsDesign control systems including but not limited to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), thermocouples, pressure transducers, proportional valves and variable frequency drivesDesign DC power distribution systems (DC-DC converter selection experience, battery power experience, circuit breaker selection experience, wire sizing experience)Design AC power distribution systems (480V/277V and 208V/120V systems)Design Ethernet and serial networks.Write procedures describing how to operate and test controls equipmentTroubleshoot and coordinate with the team in order to determine problems and implement solutionsConsistently research, test, and analyze ideas for the system and provide process improvement ideasSkills and Requirements:Experience with AutoCAD ElectricalExperience drawing schematics showing analog I/O, digital I/O, power and network connections to controllersExperience drawing cable harness assembly drawingsExperience with battery management systemsExperience with Ethernet, RS232, RS485 and CAN bus networksExperience with power distribution system designExperience in selecting components that will be subjected to extreme conditions (high/low pressure, high/low temperature, corrosion, vibration, etc.)Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. Not required if experience is in excess of 10 yearsExperience with space rated systems is a plus
