STATUS:

Full-time, 37 hours/week, non-exempt, unclassified

JOB LOCATION:

Hamilton County Justice Center

HOURS:

Saturday, 10:00 pm - 7:00 am

Sunday - Wednesday, 11:00 pm - 7:00 am

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

No travel required

STARTING PAY RATE:

$21.37; plus $2.00 shift differential

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Clerk 2, 3rd Shift position is responsible for providing excellent customer service and handling clerical tasks within the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts' Municipal Criminal & Traffic Division. In this role, you will be assisting customers, processing criminal, traffic, and probation cases, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Key duties include data entry, scanning court documents, and handling financial transactions such as collecting fines and balancing the cash drawer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

75%: CUSTOMER SERVICE
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers at the counter or over the telephone.
  • Process paperwork based on standard procedures
  • Enter data into the case management system for criminal, traffic, and probation cases in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Scans criminal complaints and other court documents into the case management system.
  • Collects fines and/or fees associated with bonds, criminal cases, and traffic cases.
25%: CLERICAL SERVICES
  • Accepts or denies arrest warrants, complaints, and affidavits based on probable cause determination.
  • Balance cash drawer at the end of the work shift review any anomalies or out-of-balance conditions with managers.
  • Sort and file case file jackets and paperwork.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

  • Basic mathematics for money collection and drawer balancing.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of professional experience in an office environment, banking, or customer service; one (1) year of experience in a courtroom or governmental position; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a sedentary job and the employee will sit 75% of their workday. The employee is expected to use a computer keyboard for extended periods of time and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
