The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike.
Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
HJF is seeking a
Data Manager I
to assist with the research data handling requirements for a research study/protocol. This includes source document design, screen testing and approval, research data set creation and scientific graphics. This is the first of four Data Manager levels.
This position will be shared resource in support of both the Defense & Veterans Center for Integrative Pain Management (DVCIPM) and the Center for Rehabilitation Sciences Research (CRSR) Centers. The DVCIPM and CRSR are research centers at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.
Responsibilities
Provides data collection forms and analyzes information from users needed for the development or modification of the data collection systems. Interacts with members of the scientific support branch, management staff, and others to accomplish the data collection and quality needs of the study.
Performs quality assurance of all study databases. Assists in the planning and formulation of policies, objectives and strategies for delivering quality assurance services.
Assists researchers, biostatisticians, and scientists in retrieving information from databases and other multiple data sources. Provides research and management reports as requested.
Provides ad hoc data sets for biostatisticians as required to ensure that research needs are being met.
Devises logical procedures, prepares flowcharts, and performs coding, testing, and debugging for REDCap projects.
Provides input of documentation for new or existing programs.
Provide information systems guidance on new and updated Department of Defense, Department of Research Protocols, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and/or Henry M. Jackson policies.
Establishes policies and procedures for the information management program to include information release, confidentiality, information security, storage/retrieval, record retention, and regulatory compliance.
Contributes to expansion strategies and product evaluations. Acts as functional coordinator during information management application upgrades or implementation.
Provides education and training to end users in areas relevant to information management policies and procedures.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of system analysis and design, SQL, data upload and statistical data set creation for data analysis.
Experience with relational databases; excellent communication skills.
Experience with R or SAS statistical software.
Must be experienced with administering web-based data management applications. Experience with at least one web development language such as PHP, ASP.NET, Ruby, Python, or Java and/or linux based operating systems such as ubuntu or RHEL a plus. Preferred experience working with websites (HTML/CSS) and email-based marketing or surveying solutions such as REDCap, SalesForce, Survey Monkey, or MailChimp
Physical Capabilities
Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods
This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of 0-2 years experience required
