Job Summary

The Compliance Associate reports to the Compliance Manager under the direction of the Compliance Director. Compliance with internal and state regulations is critical to the business operation. The Associate will work at the direction and discretion of the compliance manager.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with the Compliance team to ensure compliance with all applicable state, county and municipal laws, ordinances, and regulations for that state.
  • Assists in development of policies and procedures related to regulatory compliance in coordination with department heads and organization leaders.
  • Implement policies, strategies, and procedures as directed within the assigned facility.
  • Conducts compliance audits and report findings and develop and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Take a proactive compliance view within the assigned facility and provide preventative measures to ensure the organization is compliant with all regulatory requirements.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies during inspections to ensure the organization is in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Uses independent judgment and knowledge of applicable state regulations during daily walkthroughs of the facility for compliance.
  • Investigates and resolves compliance concerns, issues, or violations within the assigned facility.
  • Motivate team members and represent compliance department within the facility with effective communication.
  • Establish and develop strong relationships with facility department heads, providing a consultative approach to communicate compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in facility leadership conversations and relevant workgroups.
  • Comply with regulations and requirements associated with health, safety, and environmental protections.
  • Ensure the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment as required and report any hazards, accidents, or injuries as required by company policy.
  • Communicate with state regulators and inspectors as needed.
  • Perform internal pre-inspections, and random compliance audits on AYR Wellness facilities.
  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Compliance Manager.
Qualifications
  • Minimum one year of work experience in a related industry or work environment
  • Six months of experience in inventory tracking required
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication capabilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Previous METRC experience preferred
  • Previous LeafLogix experience preferred
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws relating to key areas of responsibility
  • Must meet the age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agencies
  • Able to pass all background checks/fingerprinting as required by state cannabis agencies
  • Able to provide valid badging/credentials as required by state cannabis agencies
Education
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Equivalent combination of work/education experience accepted
Experience
  • 1-3 years of cannabis experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience
  • Ability to maintain an organized work environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Attention to detail
