American Income Life Insurance has a great opportunity for a Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant to join their Controller Accounting Financial Department supporting our Waco, TX office. Job Summary The Financial Reporting Department of American Income Life Ins. Company is seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Senior Accountant. This position will be responsible for the preparation of internal and external financial reports, financial analysis, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and researching exceptions, statutory accounting, GAAP accounting and assisting in the preparation of US and Foreign financial reporting. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Assist in preparation of consolidated financial statements at subsidiary level Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and consolidate at both GAAP and Statutory accounting levels Ability to research FASB and NAIC guidance and document accounting position Staying apprised of current GAAP and Statutory accounting guidance and upcoming proposed guidance Assist in the documentation and process flows of accounting policies Work with external auditor requests Assist with automation and modernization of accounting and financial reporting tools Special projects with Vice President, Controller Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Highly motivated individual with strong work ethic Ability to multi-task and work independently Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail are critical Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong use of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Power Pivot Ability to work in a fast paced environment while managing financial reporting priorities and fast deadlines Applicable to all employees of Globe Life & Accident and its subsidiaries: Reliable and predictable attendance of your assigned shift Ability to work full time and/or part time based on the position specifications. Education & Work Experience Required: 2-3 years of experience in public accounting preferred Bachelor degree in Accounting required and CPA and/or Master's degree preferred Proven ability to develop, document, maintain operations policies and procedures, including designing and documenting detailed process flows Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and Power BI Workiva or other similar reporting tools experience a plus Previous insurance accounting experience a plus Foreign exchange accounting and reporting a plus Management of accounting and financial reporting staff a plus
