The Midland Business Alliance (MBA) is Midland’s business hub and voice for more than 3,000 businesses, from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. We are looking for a Director of Events to join our team and run all of our events

The

Director of Events

reports to the MBA’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) and helps to develop and execute events of all kinds, both large and small-scale. The perfect candidate for this job has impeccable attention to detail, strong time management, loves being behind the scenes and cares deeply about the community.

Essential Responsibilities

Plans, organizes and executes events both initiated and co-hosted by the MBA. Manages all administrative event tasks in a timely manner, including financial/budget tracking and invoicing Leads the negotiating and management of partnerships with local event venues and vendors Develops and adheres to efficient and detailed program timelines to ensure successful program execution Qualifications & Necessary Skills:

Excellent communication, leadership, presentation and interpersonal skills Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy Must have great organizational, group coordination and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team Must be creative and able to prioritize tasks in the face of challenges Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in hospitality management, business or related field preferred but not required if demonstrated experience and proficiency in related work is provided A minimum of two years in experience coordinating major events. Working knowledge of facility operations, event management, client relations, budget/cost analysis, and department/employee management, negotiating/managing partnerships, directing special events, and crisis management helpful.
