SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for assisting in controlling expenses, providing for compliance and coordination of federal meat inspection and OSHA requirements, interpreting and enforcing company policies, maintaining a non-union program, assisting in the determination of manpower needs and making recommendations, preparing and maintaining prescribed records and reports to ensure accuracy, solving problems effectively with sound follow-up, working with department heads to meet production quality yields goals and metrics while maintaining labor standards and quality of performance and product, inspecting and maintaining a high degree of competence in housekeeping, safety, sanitation, security, and food safety, managing, evaluating, and training production supervisors, and overseeing all designated shift operations as deemed necessary by the plant manager.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High School diploma with equivalent experience or college degree preferred.
Experience:
5+ years of related industry experience; 5+ years supervisory experience in a meat processing facility (pork or beef preferred); knowledge of OSHA, USDA, and HAACP regulations.
Computer Skills:
Standard computer skills.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating effectively with all levels of Team Members from hourly to upper management as well as government officials.
Special Skills:
Leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise team members in the plant; carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws; interview, hire, and train team members; plan, assign, and direct work; monitor and appraise work performance; reward, coach, counsel, and discipline team members; address complaints and resolve problems.
Travel:
0-20%.
Additional Requirements:
Lead by example, accept and delegate responsibility, display sound judgment and decision-making skills, problem-solve efficiently with sound follow-up, possess strong managerial skills, and maintain excellent safety and attendance records. Ability to work with department heads to meet safety, production, and quality yield goals. All Tyson Team Members are responsible for safety, including personal safety and food safety. This position is responsible for food safety, food quality, and legality.
