Summary of Position:

We are seeking a CNC machinist to join our team at our facility in Ontario, CA. In this position, you will be responsible for setting up, running, and troubleshooting CNC and conventional machines on site. Candidates will need strong experience operating CNC Mills and/or CNC Lathe turning centers and possess the ability to translates the engineering specifications into precision parts by determining how best to produce the required item and then manufacturing it accordingly. A level I & II technician will be starting out and learning the process, but a Level III is expected to understand the process, how to apply learned skills and possess the talent to machine parts with very little supervision to meet or exceed the quality requirements of the drawings/specifications. A level-IV CNC machinist will also possess leadership qualities, as well as the skills to train and mentor others. Pay is based on the level the candidate can demonstrate.

Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications, or sample parts to determine the dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces to comply with Maury quality system
  • Experience operating 3 and/or 4-axis CNC Mill or CNC Lathes or Swiss multiple head turning machines
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to 6S standards.
  • Utilizes required fixtures, holding devices, materials, inserts, tool holders, and installs pre-set tools into the machine.
  • Participation in continuous improvement in the area as well as other departments by identifying cause, problems, or need for correction
  • Check for machine readiness and regular maintenance is performed to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Works with programmers to resolve programming problems during the machining process.
  • Ensure safety and quality considerations and requirements are proactively addressed and implemented in product production processes.
  • Ability to plan machine set-ups, position workpieces, and operate various CNC machines to produce specified quantities of piece parts to specified tolerances. Deburr parts as needed to meet 100% quality
  • Perform first-piece inspections and make the necessary adjustments to the machine set-up to ensure parts are formed to designated tolerances.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail, report problems, discrepancies, and anomalies promptly
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and concentrate for long periods.
  • Able to use a drop indicator, calipers, and micrometer for measuring
  • Able to lapp parts to achieve dimension and flatness
  • Must be able to work in a high-performance team setting to achieve common goals and work standards
Required Skills:
  • Basic PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MRP).
  • English language skills and the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions are highly valued in this role.
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others for fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Must be able to pass any customer-required testing/machining specifications about their parts and standards.
  • Must regularly lift and move physical inventory weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to spend long periods standing.
  • Skill in following verbal and written directions and transferring instructions into action.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and a high volume of work on a deadline.
  • Adheres to all workplace safety guidelines, policies, and laws determined by the company, state, and federal authorities
  • Intermediate math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, and fractions, for print reading and tolerance determination.
  • Other tasks, as directed by management
Experience and Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • CNC operator/machinist, trade school diploma or certification preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience in a machine shop environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in CNC mills and lathes machines.

Work Hours

Standard work hours of 40 per week but may be requested to work overtime as deemed necessary. Standard work scheduled is 5:00am to 1:30pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
