To learn how to apply for a faculty or staff position using the Career worklet, please review this tip sheet.Clinical Research Nurse 2*** Sign On Bonus $10,000***The University of Miami, UHealth of the department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Clinical Research Nurse 2 to work at the UHealth in Boca Raton.Core SummaryThe Clinical Research Nurse 2 ensures the integrity and quality of clinical research studies are maintained and conducted in accordance with practice guidelines, federal and sponsor regulations, and institutional policies and procedures. Additionally, the Clinical Research Nurse 2 plays a key role in the recruitment of participants and achievement of research objectives. Core ResponsibilitiesAssesses, troubleshoots, and reports problems with data collection to appropriate managing staff.Identifies desired research outcomes and evaluates and monitors subjects' responses.Conducts initiation visits and registers patients in clinical studies.Performs study data collection and entry using charts, correspondence, medical records, and relevant communications.Identifies and procures equipment and supplies needed to fulfill project requirements.Educates staff and subjects about protocols, treatment, possible side effects, and complications.May also collect and handle specimens as required by individual study protocols.Prepares and processes new research proposals and amendments and continually monitors applications and adverse events.Assists with study completion, data lock, study closeout, and archiving of study files to ensure completeness and continuity of all study data.Completes ongoing checks of clinical data entered on the case report forms to ensure accuracy and revises any discrepancies.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.Department Specific Functions The Clinical Research Nurse 2 will provide support the research projects of the Comprehensive Center for Brain Health, under the supervision of Dr. James Galvin.Work closely with the Director as part of an inter professional, transdisciplinary team to provide outstanding, comprehensive care in the clinical research settingPerform standardized scales, vital signs, and anthropometric measurements.Perform memory and functional screening or monitoring tools that allow for objective re-evaluation of change in performance and/or function over timeEnsure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment, including infusion pumps and defibrillatorOrder, stock, and maintain inventory of emergency medications, oxygen, and other code cart suppliesDevelop and execute patient emergency response plans when neededOrder, stock, and maintain inventory of unit medical suppliesDevelop and execute patient emergency response plans when necessaryDevelop and update standard operating procedures as needed.Blood sample collection and processing per protocol requirementDemonstrates critical nursing judgment to maintain the integrity of the research protocol without compromising patient safety.Demonstrates appropriate clinical skills relating to the execution of research protocols, such as determining eligibility, exclusion criteria, identifying need for modifications and adverse responses.Help prepare NIH and IRB applicationsAssist in the development of recruitment strategies and promotional materialsCoordinate participant enrollment, determine patient eligibility and obtain informed consent.Create and maintain participant charts & coordinate participant appointmentsPerform vital signs, neuro checks, EKGs, and blood draws for study participantsCollects, organizes and maintains source documentation.Ensure protocol is being followed as approved by the IRBReport all adverse events.Participate in research activities by assisting in the collection of data, initiating research under supervision as appropriate.Supervise the activities of research assistants/project assistants as appropriate.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.Core Qualifications Bachelor's degree in relevant fieldValid Florida RN licenseMinimum 3 years of relevant experienceKnowledge, Skills and Attitudes:Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
