DESCRIPTION Under supervision, performs and records all sonographic procedures and assists with some specialty procedures in accordance with established departmental guidelines and protocols. Operates various types of ultrasound equipment, transducers, and recording devices. Recognizes normal and pathological conditions and modifies the exam accordingly to ensure complete and accurate high-quality information is obtained. Prepares and positions the patient for the procedure by using established Ultrasound protocols to achieve the highest quality image. Reviews, verifies, and evaluates images to ensure excellent image quality. Troubleshoots and resolves ultrasound-related PACS issues. Participates in performance improvement projects within the department. Floats within the department as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Duties are to be performed at a Practitioner Level. Floats to the specialty unit (if qualified). Assists with mentoring junior ultrasound technologists and students as needed. Assists other ultrasound technologists with difficult procedures that require advanced skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of a school of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer license issued by ARDMS (RDMS) in AB & OB/GYN. BART or BLS at the time of hire with a commitment to get BART within six (6) months of the hire date required. Two (2) years of relevant clinical experience. Excellent communication skills. Basic computer skills. Must possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
