) Clinical and Translational Research Coordinator Mike Toth Head and Neck Cancer Center at Mass Eye and Ear and Mass General A full-time position is available in the Head and Neck Cancer Center at the Mass Eye and Ear/Mass General and Harvard Medical School. We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team of head and neck cancer researchers and clinicians. This position entails assisting and working closely with the Head and Neck Cancer team in both research and clinical settings. In addition to managing the head and neck specimen bank, the individual will work to enroll patients into studies, collect specimens, and organize data. There will be opportunities for the coordinator to learn from and contribute to the research efforts of our teams and labs as well, based on interest. This position is best suited for highly motivated, meticulous individuals with an interest in gaining experience in cancer studies from both clinical and research perspectives. Essential Responsibilities and Functions Interacting with head and neck cancer patients to perform consents, facilitate blood draws and collect data Assisting with collecting specimens following surgery/biopsy/blood draw Processing tissue, blood and fluids for research use and storage Managing specimen and clinical databases, extracting study data from patient charts Assisting with subject screening, recruitment, and study enrollment Participating in clinical and research meetings to assist the Head and Neck Team in conducting research studies and clinical trials. Assisting with maintaining day-to-day lab operations and ordering lab supplies. Assisting in administrative tasks, such as onboarding of new members and organizing materials for lab meetings Participation in additional lab research activities, if interested. Head and Neck Specimen Bank:

The research coordinator will run the head and neck specimen bank at Mass. Eye and Ear. This includes identifying and consenting patients for collection, collecting new tissue and blood samples, updating patient data, and maintaining the database. Lab work and management:

Research laboratories in the Mike Toth Head and Neck Cancer Center study how alterations in cancer genomes impact response to treatment, and how treatment responses can be predicted and tracked. The research coordinator works closely with these teams to conduct and facilitate the research. Application Interested applicants should submit a resume and cover letter. The Mike Toth Head and Neck Cancer Center is in the Simches Building, Mass. General Hospital, in the Historic Beacon Hill Neighborhood of Boston. Clinical work and interactions will take place at the Mass Eye and Ear/Mass General Hospital complex. In 2019, MGH and MEE were ranked 2nd in the US News and World Report rankings of Hospitals and 2nd in the rankings of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Departments. The Head and Neck Oncology program at MGH and MEE consists of six head and neck oncologic surgeons, two radiation oncologists, three medical oncologists, two dedicated head and neck pathologists, five dedicated head and neck radiologists and numerous research support staff, seeing 1000 head and neck cancer patients a year. The Mike Toth Head and Neck Cancer Research Center opened in 2019 in the Simches Building at MGH and is a state-of-the-art research center. MGH is home to the largest hospital-based research enterprise in the United State with a budget of $928M and ranks 1st among independent hospitals in the amount of annual funding received from NIH. The research community includes more than 2,000 PIs. At MEE, MGH and MGH Cancer Center, there is a robust scientific community in Head and Neck Cancer and Cancer Research in general. Research coordinators are invited to attend journal clubs, monthly research meetings, weekly clinical trial meeting, weekly tumor board and sample collection meetings. MGH Cancer Center also hosts monthly Grand Rounds, Molecular Tumor Boards, and weekly seminars on a host of cancer research topics.
