H4A Hub Director

Portland, United States Hygiene4All Full time

About us

Hygiene4Allis a hygiene, health & safety hub which champions community harm reduction, health, engagement, advocacy, and connection across the houseless-housed divide. At Hygiene4All our unsheltered attendants have joined forces with housed allies to propose a new response to city-wide hygiene problems, largely caused by broken policies that criminalize and diminish our unsheltered neighbors who have been pushed onto the streets by soaring rents and low wages. H4A’s solution:

provide reliable

access to water, toilets, laundry, first aid, and practices that enhance the welcoming safety, well being, and sense of community of all who visit and participate in our hub

facilitate opportunities

for houseless community members to participate in identifying shared problems and advocating for collaborative solutions that improve enjoyable access to basic hygiene, health, and sense of community

demonstrate and disseminate

the savings and benefits of this program for general public health and well being through rigorous tracking & dissemination of data tracking, stories, and analysis.

Position

The Hub Director is responsible for the scheduling, hiring, training, and payment of coordinators, hub ambassadors and volunteers and for providing interpersonal support. Due to the nature of houselessness and its ties to trauma, the Hub Director leads in a trauma informed manner, putting the relationships and learning of our patron and staff community before efficiency and productivity.

The Hub Director is a critical point person in the hub community. They supervise and mentor all staff. They mentor housed volunteers. They work closely with the Executive Director (who oversees budget, development, and grant writing) in defining training priorities, programming, cross-community organizing efforts and continual improvement of our handbook and protocols. They liaise with our bookkeeping firm to provide accurate payroll information every 2 weeks. Success depends on listening to the needs of others, supporting them, and helping team members devise solutions that prioritize community well being and constructive communication. Emotional intelligence, communication and problem-solving skills; and the ability to receive, give, and make use of constructive feedback, are all critical.
