Description
The Floating Hospital is seeking a full-time Outreach Driver to transport our patients throughout all five boroughs from their residences to our facilities for medical, dental, and mental health appointments, as well as perform outreach activities in the community. While driving experience, vehicle maintenance, driver qualifications and knowledge are imperative, the right candidate must be able to interact with empathy, sensitivity, and respect towards our patients and their families. The Outreach Driver will be under the direct supervision of the Director of Transportation.
Driver Duties and Responsibilities:
•Practice safe driving habits.
•Knowledge of utilizing cells, text messages, emails and ready to operate in 5 boroughs.
•Follow prearranged routes to destinations, and various boroughs
•Open vehicle doors and assist passengers
•Load and unload vehicles of various donations
Vehicle Maintenance:
•Keep interior and exterior of vehicle clean and presentable.
•Maintain vehicle equipment; replace oil, fill gas tank, perform general motor vehicle maintenance as needed for safety.
•Clean windows, windshields, and mirrors as needed.
•Keep interior of vehicle clean of debris and clutter.
•Complete documentation such as logs, mileage, or cargo and passenger reports.
•Follow schedules and rerouting in a timely manner when faced with traffic or congestion.
Passenger Assistance:
•Positive attitude and professional demeanor towards the passengers and their families.
•Focused on customer service and patient care.
•Able to assist passengers when needed
•Load strollers into the van.
Requirements
Requirements and Qualifications:
•Previous professional experience driving preferred; training may be provided
•Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
•Must be able to pass criminal background check
•Able to follow verbal directions, use a cell phone, text, read maps, follow GPS and use navigation tools is a requirement.
•Able to work well alone and being part of a team.
•Reliable and punctual with dedicated professionalism to job and duties.
•Able to adapt to changing schedules or routines.
•Excellent time management skills.
•Organized and able to follow a schedule.
•Physically able to lift and carry object up from 30 to 50 pounds.
•Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, and sit for long periods of time during daily routine.
•Able to work flexible hours and OT a must, no nights, some Saturdays for various events.
•Education: High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or knowledge, skills, equivalent to 2 years of high school education.
•Fluency in spoken English and Spanish is a requirement.
