Provides a standard registration process by collecting demographic and financial data for complex billing situations and enters information into the electronic medical record.Principle ResponsibilitiesGreets and welcomes patient in person.Collects demographic and insurance information.Checks in and interviews patient to complete appropriate paperwork.Directs patient to their appointment or procedure.Documents any issues and resolutions in electronic medical record.Uses resources, tools and procedure to complete registration for complex accounts.May assist in scheduling add-on appointments.Verifies eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results focusing on complex billing situations.Obtains cost information and explains information to patient if necessary.Collects co-pay or deductibles.Assists and counsels patient with application process for available financial assistance programs.Provides technical or functional direction for employees. Mentors new staff.Uses resources, tools and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues.Assists patient in completion of request for information forms and submits to appropriate department.Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsMust be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description2 to 5 years of revenue cycle or healthcare insurance experience2 to 5 years of customer service experience0 to 2 years of experience using computer including an electronic medical record, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook0 to 2 years of general office experience0 to 2 years of experience as a Patient Access RepresentativePreferred Qualifications High school diploma or GEDAssociate's or Vocational degreeLicenses/CertificationsCertified Application Counselors State of Minnesota - MNSure Licensure upon hire preferredPhysical DemandsLight Work:Lifting weightUp to 20 lbs. occasionally, Up to 10 lbs. frequentlyPay RangePay Range: $22.74 to $30.81 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
