Old Republic Surety Company (ORSC) is currently seeking a Staff Accountant II to join its Accounting Team at our home office in Brookfield, WI. In general, the Staff Accountant II will be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities noted in this job description with minimal guidance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as the department liaison for the mainframe system ensuring compliance on various accounting functions (month end balancing, reporting, reinsurance, statistics and journal entries, etc.). Prepare internal statistical/control documents to meet management's needs. Perform a quarterly fluctuation analysis and perform account reconciliations on various premium and claims accounts. Update Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) and reinsurance files with current period data. Serve as company liaison for all non-affiliate reinsurance programs. Prepare all IBNR journal entries for all writing companies. Prepare all non-affiliate reinsurance journal entries. Assist with the production (premium) and claim expense budget process. Prepare and file all required statistical filings with various states and statistical agents. Prepare the financial and statistical data needed for rate filings. Compile necessary information and prepare Schedule of Reinsurance (Schedule F) and Schedule of Loss and Loss Adjustments (Schedule P) for company's annual statement in order to comply with regulatory requirements. Complete other statutory required reports as necessary. This position is responsible for assisting with the Company’s adherence to the current Sarbanes-Oxley Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) framework; maintain COSO 2013 documentation Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, and a minimum of three years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Working as a Staff Accountant II requires one to work independently and effectively within a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products is necessary. Other skills necessary include excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and accurate proofreading skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, the ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use a variety of office equipment.
