Description:
Candidates will be doing fluxcore MIG welding on components for fabrication of steel bridges up to 1/2"" thick. Candidates will be working off blueprints to perform full lay outs and fabrication associated with the layouts. Candidates may need to operate overhead & Jib cranes.Candidates need to be open to using other equipment to fabricate the bridges (i.e. they will NOT be welding 100% of the time) including band saws, drill presses, stud welder, grinder. this is not your typical ""welding bay"" position; candidates will be moving around the shop to fabricate/weld the bridges. Crawling under materials and welding in awkward positions.
This person may also end up being more a lead welder down the road so previous lead experience is important.
WELD TEST AND PAY:
Candidates will take a 3G vertical up weld test on 7/8 plate. They will need a full penetration weld that is passed by X Ray Inspection. For this spot candidates must pass the X ray test and have potential to be a lead.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Must Haves:
Strong structural welding experience
Potential to be a lead
-ability to work independently/determine what needs to get done without direction
-willingness to learn
-ability to consistently lift 50lbs, kneel, stoop, crawl consistently
Nice to Haves:
-blueprint reading
-fluxcore welding on structural steel
***Need to be able to pass 3F and 4F within first few days and 3G weld test within the first month (costs $400 every time they do it because xray and bend test)
