Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welder to join our team.  As a Welder, you will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and equipment using welders, cutters, fixtures, and measuring tools. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of various welding techniques, materials, and equipment, as well as a strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, job routers, and specifications to determine the appropriate welding process and materials.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, and oxy-acetylene torches.
  • Perform welding tasks using various techniques, such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW).
  • Select and prepare welding materials, including metal alloys and filler metals, ensuring proper compatibility and cleanliness.
  • Fabricate and assemble metal components and structures according to project requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct quality inspections of welded joints and structures to ensure they meet specifications and adhere to safety standards.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition, performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper ventilation in confined spaces.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to plan and execute welding projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Document work performed, including materials used, hours worked, and any deviations from project plans or specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Welder, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and oxy-acetylene cutting
  • Strong understanding of metal fabrication principles, including metallurgy, heat treatment, and mechanical properties of metals.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Certification in welding or a related field from a recognized institution or vocational school is preferred.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity, with the ability to work with precision and attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials, work in awkward positions, and withstand exposure to fumes, dust, and high temperatures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues related to welding equipment and processes.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established safety guidelines and procedures.
