The Broker-Dealer Finance team provides accounting and finance support and oversight to MassMutuals home office registered broker-dealers and corporate investment advisors, including MassMutuals growing retail broker-dealer, MML Investors Services, LLC (MMLIS), which had customer assets of over $250 billion as of 12/31/2021.

To help us achieve our mission, we are hiring a Head of Broker-Dealer Finance to join our team in MassMutuals Corporate Finance division, reporting to the Corporate Controller.

**WHAT GREAT LOOKS LIKE IN THIS ROLE**

Our ideal Head of Broker-Dealer Finance candidate is an experienced finance and accounting professional with prior experience with an insurance affiliated or independent broker-dealer, who can see and communicate the big picture while being involved in the appropriate details. You will use your skills to lead a talented team and to provide direction and influence financial strategy for MMLIS. You are also someone who will build effective working relationships with operational, product and corporate partners, as well as with external auditors and regulators.

**OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE**

* Serve as CFO, FINOP and financial steward of certain of MassMutuals retail and wholesale broker-dealers and investment adviser subsidiaries

* Drive compliance with SEC and FINRA financial regulations and manage regulatory relationships and examinations

* Provide informative and actionable reporting

* Effectively manage the capital of these regulated entities

* Manage a team of 3 direct reports and 12 indirect reports

**DAILY AND MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES**

* Accurately and timely close the monthly books and provide timely and actionable management reporting

* Meet all required regulatory filings and submissions

* Oversee and manage the annual audits by external auditors

* Effectively manage expenses and capital

* Negotiate or influence vendor contracts

* Develop annual budgets and quarterly forecasts

* Evaluate product profitability and partner with management to maximize profitability

* Quarterly audit committee and semi-annual subsidiary board of directors presentations

* Develop teams financial talent and bench-strength

**SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**

* Series 27 Securities License (Financial and Operations Principal) required

* Well-versed in GAAP accounting and broker-dealer accounting and finance

* 10 plus years of related work experience

* Prior experience leading an accounting/finance team

* Ability to manage complex financial, reporting and regulatory matters or processes

* Ability to develop, establish, and operate financial policies and procedures

* Ability to manage others well, to treat them with respect, and to balance corporate priorities with individual abilities

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

* CPA/public accounting experience preferred

* Prior experience with an insurance-affiliated or independent broker-dealer preferred

That's a journey that I'm really interested in. There's some learning and some obstacles that we need to come together as a team to get past. But that's what makes me excited to come to work. And I'm very confident that we're going to learn along the way and really have some breakthroughs in the way that we, we deliver our business and service our customers.
