Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Managing Director to lead marketing efforts to institutional clients in the US. The Managing Director will be responsible for placing capital with institutions on the existing pipeline of opportunities, proactively originating unique investment opportunities and building out the brand name and presence of the firm as it expands into structured products and the emerging markets. The Managing Director will be at the heart of sales efforts, motivating and coordinating the sales team, attracting new sales representatives and coaching / mentoring junior team members. The Managing Director will also be involved in the commercial management of the firm assisted by a comprehensive administrative support team, enforcing the implementation of strong processes, diligent use of systems such as CRM and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and maintaining a profitable portfolio of business through top level sales, relationships, and technical expertise.
  • Accomplishing targeted revenue goals while managing sales pipeline and assisting in sourcing attractive investment opportunities
  • Building steadfast relationships with existing and new institutional customers to foster new and follow on placement opportunities
  • Attracting top talent to place business and active management of the team
  • Sourcing of and negotiating revenue sharing agreements with other broker dealers. Managing these relationships to maximize revenue opportunities
  • Limited supervisory role as a Series 24 license holder, acting as supervisor to the Compliance Director. The applicant must understand the regulatory landscape and ensure all registered reps within the firm are strictly following compliance processes and requirements put in by the firm's Compliance Director. 
  • Inspiring and teaching team members through leadership principles, technical proficiencies, and deep market and client knowledge. Mentorship and coaching junior team members
  • Expand business offering into research or other revenue sources, where the opportunity presents itself

 Qualifications

  • 15+ years in the financial markets 
  • Demonstrated network of customers in the US institutional market
  • Proven track record of capital placements for funds and/or direct equity and debt products. Experience in placing structured notes is a plus
  • Solid business development and client service orientation. Must understand the issues and setbacks faced in building a client-centric, fee-based business.
  • Strong experience managing sales team and driving sales
  • Knowledgeable in the US regulatory landscape for broker dealers. Understanding and experience in non-U.S. jurisdictions is a plus
  • Series 7 and 24 minimum
  • Experience at a top tier institution preferable
  • Bachelor's Degree required, an advanced degree or MBA is a plus. 
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency
  • Exceptional level of work ethic and a collaborative approach
