The Division of Addiction Psychiatry at Brigham and Women's Hospital is seeking a co-op student who is interested in medicine, psychiatry, psychology, or clinical research. looking for experience and exposure to clinical research in Addiction Psychiatry. Working with us as a research student co-op is a great way to experience psychiatry and clinical research. You will be embedded in our clinical trial work and interact closely with patients, nurses, physician assistants, doctors-in-training, faculty, and other staff. You will learn about the scientific, ethical, and organizational underpinnings of clinical research and medicine in general.Our projects are addiction psychiatry based and include, but are not limited to, clinical trials in novel uses of medications for opioid use disorder, oral complications related tomedications for opioid use disorder, behavioral interventions for medically hospitalized patients with substance use disorder. You will also have direct access to the division principal investigator, as well as our research faculty members, who will mentor you in your career development. You will emerge from this experience with an in-depth understanding of how clinical research and psychiatry work, and your work with us will be an excellent foundation for a career in research and/or psychiatry or psychology who wants to equip themselves with exposure to a fast-paced clinical environment before applying to medical, doctoral, nursing, or graduate schools or is preparing for medical residency. Reporting to the Senior Administrator the incumbent will provide research support to the Principal Investigator and multiple research staff within the Division. This position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. The candidate should also possess exceptional attention to detail, and exercise discretion in managing confidential patient information. This person will work closely with Division research staff. This job will be in person with some remote time possible.JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES•Managing multiple studies and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of study procedure•Assist with the overall recruitment efforts, including creating and posting flyers or posting online advertisements, and conducting telephone screenings of potential participant•Managing inquiries (via phone, email) and educating study participants regarding study protocol•Verifying participant eligibility for studies via medical record reviews or other methods as required for each particular study•Coordinating and scheduling study visit•Obtaining informed consent•Meeting with and corresponding with study participants during and in between study visit•Mailing study information to study participants if needed•Performing data collection via face-to-face assessments or surveys, chart reviews, structured or semi-structured interviews, and psychological tests.•Ensuring data integrity through quality assurance checks, and maintaining and uploading data for archiving when required by NIH•Monitoring study inventory and ordering/purchasing supplie•Maintaining study data using REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) or other programs as required•Maintaining study participant records as part of record keeping function•Preparing study reports, annual reviews, NIH reports, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation, including reporting of adverse event•Corresponding with the IRB, preparing and submitting IRB documents including protocols and amendment•Monitoring and evaluating protocol compliance with internal and external regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to practical and ethical guideline•Assisting with data analysis and preparation of manuscripts and conference presentation•All other duties as assigned by the Principal InvestigatorThe research coordinators work closely with the Principal Investigator and other research staff who meet regularly as a group to review study progress.QualificationsNortheastern student with minimum two-years of college education in Business Administration, Health Sciences, Finance/Accounting, Psychology, or related field OR one year of related co-op experience.High school DiplomaCompliance with all MGB Conditions of employmentProficient Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills are strongly preferredExceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, management, staff, and other customers.Ability to effectively handle challenging situations and to balance multiple priorities.Excellent verbal communication skills.Able to communicate effectively in writing.EEO StatementBrigham and Women's Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
