Fiberglass Coatings, a leading distributor of composite materials is seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent. This is an on-site position and will work out of our St. Petersburg, FL location.

In this position you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and securing essential goods, materials, and services required to meet the operational needs of the company. As the Purchasing Agent you will aim to secure these resources by considering elements such as cost, quality, and punctual delivery to uphold a reliable supply chain.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and procuring materials and services while ensuring they meet cost, quality, and quantity standards.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with vendors, fostering open communication and collaboration to resolve issues promptly and ensure mutual satisfaction.
  • Serve as a liaison between suppliers and various departments to facilitate purchasing procedures and initiatives for new projects and activities.
  • Monitor inventory levels and anticipate demand to prevent shortages or overstocking, optimizing inventory turnover.
  • Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities for both new and current products, actively negotiate and enhance pricing and business terms with suppliers.
  • Oversee inventory control levels, collaborate with other departments to address inventory concerns, manage vendor returns, and rectify purchase order discrepancies.
  • Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies to make informed purchasing decisions and maintain competitiveness.
  • Proactively identify areas for process improvement within the procurement function and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
  • 2-5 years of of recent experience as a purchasing agent in a fast paced manufacturing and/or distribution environment
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Team player, well organized and excellent follow through skills
