The Senior Technical Project Engineer conducts, coordinates, and manages small to large product development projects and support activity. In this role, the Senior Technical Project Engineer works with customers, solution architects, sales, manufacturing, and other internal teams to coordinate customer solution development projects from inception to delivery to the manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include requirements elicitation, budgeting and reporting, schedule preparation, pre-planning and resource forecasting, metrics management, and process improvement activities.In addition, this position also is responsible for identifying opportunities and successfully implementing change to strategically improve internal capabilities through automation and optimized productivity.

The Technical Project Engineer role appears similar to a Project Manager but differs in that this role requires a deeper technical understanding of engineering activities in both hardware and software.The Senior Technical Project Engineer is responsible for driving the accountability, timeline, and all associated engineering activity required for successful completion of varied projects focused on technology development and deployment. This role requires the ability to work independently and work with various internal and external teams.The Technical Project Engineer excels at multi-tasking, attention to detail, is highly organized, and can drive change to build world-class products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Manage the full project lifecycle, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Develop and own project plans, schedules, and resource allocation plans to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Align resources and task prioritization to ensure focus on proper priorities drive to committed dates.
  • Work with cross-functional leaders to identify and apply resources to customer escalations, support requests, and technical requests such as component qualification and sustaining engineering tasks.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for flawless execution of projects.
  • Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
  • Lead and mentor project teams, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Conduct risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and budget.
  • Proactively manage changes in scope, risk, and contingency planning.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Lead cross-function teams in the development of new processes and continuous improvement projects.
  • Define and manage metrics to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Oversee and drive excellence through benchmarking and implementation of best practices.
  • Manage and ensure accountability to deliverables and customer's expectations.
  • Use data and findings to support and set in motion broader and cross functional improvements.
  • Work with consultants, contractors, vendors, and partners to manage timing, delivery, quality, and expectations.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships at multiple levels within the company, including engineering, manufacturing, sales, and solution architects.

Essential Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other related engineering disciplines, or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • Eight or more years working with computer hardware, computing solutions, and technology and components.
  • Highly experienced in gathering, documenting, and communicating business requirements to business and technical resources. Ability to organize large-scale project requirements into a coherent set of documents.
  • Engineering experience demonstrating successful implementation of compute-based solutions including effective project management of large-scale projects (over $500k) and experience in directing outside contractors and consultants.
  • Strong understanding of how to manage and organize development activities from requirements through qualification and delivery.
  • Strong understanding of product development and hardware and software development and various tools used in managing and support those efforts.
  • Familiar with project management tools and methodologies, issue tracking, and product lifecycle management.
  • Strong communication skills both in technical and project status communication; delivery of project communication, documentation, and weekly status updates.
  • Ability to work with engineering, product management, and customers to determine overall objectives and oversee development and execution of project plans, milestones, progress tracking, and drive projects to closure.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently to drive to results with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with tight deadlines.
