The Role Based near our largest Department of Defense Customer near Columbia, MD, you will work with geographically dispersed engineering teams responsible for the proposal response, design, implementation, administration, and maintenance of our government client's Electrical SCADA Systems that monitor and control electrical power across their local campus and enterprise sites around the world. Your Impact
  • Support department operations and objectives:
    • Work directly with the department Director to create and execute departmental goals and objectives focused on quality and timely deliverables.
    • Complete engineering reviews and estimations to support business development with federal government customers.
    • Periodically review all engineering activities across the department. Work with project teams to identify risks and their mitigations.
    • Support design review meetings for strategic customers.
    • Work with customers to establish design standards for SCADA database and display components.
  • Support various engineering roles such as Project Engineers, Engineering Technicians, and SCADA System Administrators:
    • Serve as the subject matter expert for SCADA integration to electrical distribution equipment relating to design, implementation, and commissioning.
    • Mentor team leaders and members on project execution.
    • Drive the creation and maintenance of processes and training to improve the quality of department deliverables and increase team efficiency.
    • Evaluate project blueprints, electrical one-lines, and control schematics for projects. Complete SCADA system database and display design submittals, programming, and implementation while adhering to customer standards/policies and contract specifications.
    • Train and aid teams on programming field equipment (Smart Meters, Data Concentrators, RTUs, IEDs, etc.) and troubleshooting SCADA system communication issues.
    • Provide SCADA design and integration guidance to various contractors to ensure adherence to contract & specification requirements and industry standards.
    • Identify the need for, draft, review, and submit Request For Information (RFI) documents to support timely project deliverables.
    • Serve as design authority responsible for review and approval of all external deliverables from the engineering team verifying contract compliance, solution functionality, and adherence to quality standards.
    • Apply industry knowledge, define approaches, and formalize work for solving complex design and application problems to provide customer deliverables that function with high quality.
    • Define project requirements through customer communication and communicate the requirements to other departments, as necessary.
  • Provide onsite customer support for the SCADA system end user, electrical contractors, and general contractors to include:
    • Support onsite field visits to troubleshoot and resolve problems that arise with SCADA integration and equipment commissioning.
    • Development and execution of short-term and long-term relationship objectives
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and contractors, educating them on the scope of services provided by our team.
    • Utilize industry knowledge and become well educated in each customer's use case and system design. Work with customers to understand their needs and develop solutions to ensure the highest level of satisfaction is achieved.
What You'll Need
  • BS or MS degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 12years' experience in project engineering, preferably in related industry.
  • Experience in quality control management and methods.
  • Strong technical background in ICS/SCADA protocols, system design, application, and network communications.
  • Strong technical background in one or more of the following: electric power systems design, electric utility operations/dispatch, real time control systems, client/server applications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work cross-functionally and at different levels of the organization are important.
  • Strong commitment to providing superior customer service.
  • Ability to obtain a Government Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret Government Clearance.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: ICS/SCADA protocols, system design, application, network communications, UNIX/Linux/Windows operation systems, C/C++.
