Position Title: MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Position Summary: Position is responsible for coaching and supporting the CFT's in each Engineering group. In addition the Manufacturing Engineer provides support to our manufacturing teams. Responsible for helping to create a manufacturing plan, fixtures, and drawings. The objective is to improve quality, cost, delivery, and safety.

Reports To: Director of Customer Focused Teams

Personnel: Not applicable

Accountabilities: Accountable for understanding and following all SOPs and WIs related to job duties while supporting 6S and Lean Manufacturing concepts. Accountable for understanding manufacturing operations and functions, developing and implementing process improvements.

Authorities: As designated or delegated by the Director of Customer Focused Teams

Duties:
  • Define and react to problems concerning quality, cost, delivery, and safety,
  • Evaluate and develop new and emerging technologies for use in manufacturing.
  • Research NCs within his/her area for Root Cause then implement Corrective Action,
  • Lead continuous improvement activities,
  • Assist in training Engineers in new procedures and machining & welding principles,
  • Develop fixtures/jigs, routing procedures to be used in the manufacturing of product,
  • Interface with customers per CFT request,
  • Supports CFT's with quoting activities,
  • Cross Functional Quote review per request,
  • Provide technical expertise, floor support, trouble shooting and support risk mitigation efforts,
  • Identifying potential improvements in product design and or manufacturing flow,
  • Actively participates in New Order Process.
  • Some domestic travel required to customers or suppliers.
Job Qualification Requirements:

Educational Experience - High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline preferred.

Experience - Experience in one or more of the following programs: Inventor, NX and/or Catia. Minimum of 10 years of related work experience specific to machining and/or welding. Strong CNC Milling machine processing, tooling and programming (4 and 5 axis machining) experience required or strong welding processing experience; manual, semi-automated and automated required.

Physical Demands - The employee is required to:
  • stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor,
  • exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
  • exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
Certification Required - None

Visual Acuity - Near acuity and accommodation as required for reading.

Hearing Ability - Ability to communicate with internal and external customers

Working Conditions - Normally works in an office environment. Occasionally, the employee is occasionally subject to:
  • shop floor environment,
  • high noise levels from operating machines,
  • physical hazards from moving equipment and production components,
  • breathing fumes, dust and mist,
  • skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids,
  • welding flashes.

The employee may be required to follow other job related instructions and to perform other job related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

Attendance is an essential job function.

Employees will operate in compliance of all recognized standards that Major Tool adheres to (such as AS9100, ISO 9000), including all supporting policies and procedures.
