Position Overview

The Director of Community Engagement for Doctoral Initiatives builds an engaged community of relationships and experiences within FTEs doctoral network of theological students, mentors, faculty, and institutional leaders, overseeing the doctoral track of FTEs programming in a hybrid working context.

Key Responsibilities

Builds and maintains relationships with leaders in theological education, particularly those overseeing doctoral education, for the purpose of advocacy, support, and resourcing doctoral students of color.

Develops institutional partnerships that source students for FTEs doctoral programming, including online offerings.

Oversees a programmatic journey and resources for doctoral students that includes recruitment, relationship building, fellowships, a suite of online courses, and in person events. Includes event planning/logistics and virtual calls, engaging constituents, awarding fellowships/grants, and fielding questions from students regarding fellowships/grants, reports, forms, and general inquiries.

Engages an online NovoEd and Mighty Networks community of FTE doctoral students, including curating and sharing digital content and providing technical assistance to weave together an engaged community.

Project manages different doctoral initiatives and consultants on related events: Doctoral Fellowships & Forum, Mentoring, Dissertation Writing Workshop, and SSBR & AAR/SBL Receptions and online offerings.

Administrative

Manages different administrative activities, which include capturing Salesforce data, distilling insights and progress from FTEs doctoral initiatives, helping to complete FTEs year-end reports, monitoring different budgets, staff supervision, building and managing relationships, providing technical assistance, and other activities that advance and support FTEs vision and mission with its constituents and the wider community.

Supervises staff and consultants depending on the needs and goals of the organizations efforts.

Works collaboratively across the organization to advance FTEs vision, mission, and culture.

Qualifications

A minimum of five years of work experience in a professional higher education, philanthropic, or grant-making environment. A PhD is preferred. Strong project and vendor management skills. Strong communication skills. Knowledgeable about the field of theological education, doctoral education, and formation of doctoral students.
