Purchasing Manager

Purchasing Manager Intro:
On behalf of our client, Procom Services is seeking a dynamic and experienced Purchasing Manager to join their team. This leadership role is critical in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring products and services to meet customer delivery dates, budget, and inventory turns.
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for executing the site material and services forecasts to suppliers and managing supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will lead a team comprised of Buyers, Commodity Managers, and Coordinators and have direct ownership in the development of Purchasing and Strategic Sourcing policies, procedures, and standard work as they relate to the site strategies. This position will collaborate cross-functionally and/or lead lean and continuous improvement initiatives to drive results.

Purchasing Manager Job Details:
- Comply with and manage all personnel working under your supervision to ensure adherence to the Company's Code of Conduct and Ethics and Company Values.
- Lead the site in the development of a successful purchasing strategy based on current customer demand, future growth, and new product introduction that results in right-sized inventory management.
- Own the site Purchasing for direct and indirect materials; Negotiate pricing and contracts.
- Utilize lean manufacturing and continuous improvement to develop and implement policies, procedures, standard work, tools, and training for the purchasing and strategic sourcing team to drive improvements across the Value Streams.
- Responsible for the site adherence to all Purchasing procedures and compliance to requirements.
- Maintain procedures for all tasks and cross-train backup personnel to perform critical job functions for alternate coverage.
- Responsible for interpreting and applying purchasing best practices and for assuring all buyers are educated and following these practices.
- Reviews and approves all purchase orders.
- Documents the accuracy of payment terms and charge accounts on the purchase orders.
- Ensures Supplier understanding of Terms and Conditions, Nondisclosure agreements, payment terms, and other company standards as required.
- Identifies sole source and other critical suppliers and develops action plans to mitigate risk and reduce dependency on single-source vendors.
- Develop, maintain, and report monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) that measure performance and achieve value stream initiatives aligned with organization strategies.
- Drive data and transaction accuracy in the ERP system.
- Provide leadership, facilitation, and coaching to develop the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify roadblocks and actions through problem-solving facilitation and provide solutions to remove or mitigate issues including expedites of overdue Purchase orders.

Purchasing Manager Mandatory Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field with greater than 6 years of progressive experience in manufacturing.
- At least 2 years of experience as a supervisor is required.
- Extensive experience working within an ERP and/or MRP system is required.
- Proven capabilities in the area of planning and manufacturing processes for machining and assembly manufacturing environments, including scheduling, shop floor planning, kanban, and supply chain.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.

Purchasing Manager Desired Skills:
- CPM or ASCM certification preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience with Lean principles with proven experience leading cross-functional teams driving change and improving systems and processes.
