This position requires an undergraduate degree in Food Science or a related discipline and a general understanding of food preparation, product development, and ingredient functionality. If you align with these goals and want to take this great opportunity to join Steuben Foods, apply today Education: Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, biology, chemistry, physics, or a related scientific field with 0-1 years of experience in food preparation/food industry/analytical laboratories Skills & Capabilities Ability to compare and distinguish differences in food ingredients, materials, etc. through taste, smell, touch, and visual inspection. Experience in food preparation, culinary applications, and/or analytical laboratories. Manual dexterity is required to operate various equipment such as scales, balances, etc. Solid PC proficiency (Excel, Word, database) and the ability to create spreadsheets, computer analysis, and report writing. Broad understanding of food components and nutrition facts – proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Willingness to travel (10-25% time). Work Specifications – Responsibilities: New Product Development/Product Improvement – Work under the supervision of senior-level scientists to develop prototype food and beverage products using a research lab, pilot lab, manufacturing facilities, and equipment, as needed. Identify and evaluate ingredients/flavors and test multiple iterations of formulations. Keep detailed accurate records, maintain lab notebooks, and generate biweekly reports. Interface with various internal departments (Quality, Engineering, Operations, Business Development, and Marketing) and customers. Work in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project Management programs Work closely with Purchasing/Procurement to ensure quality and cost-effective supply of ingredients.
