Senior Estimator

Position Overview
As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing and completing bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for construction projects. In this lead role, you will collaborate with other estimators, suppliers, and clients to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare comprehensive estimates.
Identify project components critical to competitive pricing.
Review proposal specifications and drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope and requirements.
Evaluate areas for potential cost savings through value engineering.
Provide leadership and guidance to team members preparing sub estimates.
Maintain all working documents and data to support estimate figures.
Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data.
Prepare detailed lists of materials and equipment for the estimate and solicit quotes.
Identify and engage qualified suppliers/subcontractors, ensuring quotes align with project plans and specifications.
Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents.
Draft scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
Provide detailed reviews of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for bid packages before submission.
Collaborate with Project Management departments post-bid to ensure a smooth transition and successful project execution.
Maintain files of all working documents to support estimate figures and update the approved estimating program.
Skills and Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings.
Proficiency in arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
Experience in estimating various types of projects and coordinating group efforts.
Capability to mentor and assist in the development of junior estimators.
Strong customer service skills to meet clients' needs and expectations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
Professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in estimating or related fields, with a track record of successful project estimates.
Experience with Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred.
Experience with CAD or 3D software is a plus.
A combination of education, training, and relevant experience will also be considered.
