Summary Events play a key role in enhancing the organization’s brand, celebrating the power of a wish, and inspiring the public to engage and financially support our mission. The Development & Events Manager will support all events through strong relationship management, detailed project management and effective vendor relations. Event line-up will vary from year to year. The Development & Events Manager, will be a principal relationship and project manager on the Development Team and will work in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish staff to support the fundraising and engagement efforts of Make-A-Wish MN by ensuring the success of all Chapter events including internal events (Wish Ball, Walk For Wishes), external events (community and corporate fundraisers) and stakeholder engagement events (alumni and donor cultivation). Position Responsibilities Overall Responsibilities : Serve as key staff on the execution of internal and external events.

Effectively manage a portfolio of corporate, community and vendor partners.

Prepare and manage event timelines, budgets and progress reports for chapter leadership and event chairs as needed.

Engage in event wrap-up including financial reporting, receivable income and data updates.

Negotiate vendor contracts within budgetary parameters. Identify in-kind partners to enhance event outcomes and alleviate budget restraints.

Conduct post‐event debriefings and evaluations to determine if key objectives were met. Advise leadership on recommended opportunities for improvement.

Stay up to date on event trends and best practices within Make-A-Wish nationally and within nonprofit best practices, ensuring the chapter’s events stay relevant and impactful.

Contribute innovative ideas to improve engagement and fundraising outcomes.

Maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders and vendors and identify new relationship opportunities when applicable.

Establish strong rapport with Make-A-Wish colleagues and work collaboratively leaning in when necessary and appropriate.

Other duties as assigned by VP for Development and/or the CEO.

Event Specific Responsibilities : Corporate and Community Events (Projected revenue: $475,000 annually) Serve as the lead relationship and project manager to 25+ community and corporate partners to support their fundraisers (i.e., golf tournament, auction, happy hour event, pickleball tournament, casual Fridays) with Make-A-Wish Minnesota selected as the beneficiary.

Coordinate fundraising materials, volunteers, speakers and wish kid engagement to support the events.

Coordinate with marketing to promote events, if appropriate.

Cultivate and steward partnerships through attending events, tabling, distributing stewardship plaque, etc.

Ensure ongoing partnership engagement throughout the year by distributing Chapter communications and event invitations.

Conduct active outreach to new prospects to increase the number of companies, schools, sporting teams, and community organizations holding fundraising events to benefit Make-A-Wish Minnesota.

Wish Ball Signature Gala (Projected revenue:

$1 million) Serve as the lead project manager of all event details related to the Chapter’s signature black tie event.

Serve as the event liaison between VP of Development, event committee, staff, and volunteers.

Source, contract, and manage all vendor relations for Wish Ball, including décor, florals, catering, production, and venue.

Coordinate and execute the silent auction, live auction, Fund-A-Wish and Wish Art program.

Collaborate with the Marketing Team on the marketing and communication plan including sponsorship packets, invites, pre- and post-event communications, social media, registration pages, signage, etc.

Work in collaboration with the Development and Marketing Teams to ensure all sponsorships benefits are fulfilled.

Collaborate with Volunteer Services Manager to coordinate, train and provide oversight of all “night of” event volunteers.

Manage a small portfolio of corporate relationships to cultivate and secure event sponsorships.

Walk For Wishes (Projected revenue: $100,000) Serve as the lead fundraiser recruiting and managing peer-to-peer fundraising teams (i.e., alumni Wish families, corporate partners, board members, community members, etc.).

Serve as the lead project manager of all event details and vendors related to our annual outdoor 5K walk and festival.

Serve as a liaison for the Make-A-Wish America’s Walk For Wishes advisory group.

Source, contract, and manage all vendor relations for the Walk including event day entertainment, production, and venue.

Work in collaboration with the Development and Marketing Teams to ensure all sponsorships benefits are fulfilled.

Collaborate with the Marketing Team on the marketing and communication plan including sponsorship packets, website, social media posts, pre- and post-event communications to teams and attendees, signage, etc.

Collaborate with Volunteer Services Manager to coordinate, train, and provide oversight of all “day of” event volunteers.

Manage a small portfolio of corporate relationships to cultivate and secure event sponsorships.

Other chapter events as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.

Demonstrates successful coordination of at least three major events (300+ guests).

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a broad range of donors, volunteers, vendors, and cross-functional team members.

Effective communication skills.

Highly organized, with special attention to details and deadlines, and strong project management and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented team environment.

Skilled at turning problems into additional business opportunities.

Travel as necessary to attend event planning meetings and event prospect meetings, some evening and weekend event hours required.

Valid driver’s license and availability of a car, willingness to use personal car for work purposes.

3-5 years of work experience. Event fundraising experience required.

Ability to work some nights and weekends, as necessary.
