POSITION OBJECTIVE

Lead administrative, curriculum development, and new student recruitment efforts for the Office of Undergraduate and Integrated Studies (UGIS). Collaborate with the associate dean and team to set and achieve program goals, ensuring efficient support for existing and new initiatives. Enhance the educational experience for Weatherhead School of Management undergraduate and integrated study students through strategic planning, policy interpretation, and enrollment growth initiatives. Responsible for the overall growth in enrollment in major, minor, and support courses conducted by the faculty of the school of management. This is accomplished through market-driven curriculum development as well as the design and delivery of strategic student service initiatives in direct support of the school of management undergraduate and integrated studies programs. The office is responsible for academic affairs and support services enhancing the experience of undergraduate and integrated study students - currently over 1,200 students with an annual course enrollment headcount of over 6,500.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Work cooperatively with the associate dean and department chairs to contribute to continuous improvement efforts in the school of management programs by benchmarking with peer institutions, monitoring trends in academia and industry, and developing strategic recommendations to relevant school of management and university committees. Represent the school of management to various faculty and campus administrative units and committees within the school and university-wide relating to undergraduate and integrated studies curriculum issues and recruitment, placement, financial aid, technology, evaluation, and other critical aspects involving student life. Represent the school of management on behalf of the dean and associate dean when requested. (10%)
  2. Department management, Student assistants, and Budget: Work cooperatively with the director of finance on department budget and monthly expense reconciliation. Manage office and supplies used for daily operations and student events. Work cooperatively with associate dean on committee scheduling, agenda preparation, execution, and summaries of meetings. Manage recruiting, hiring, training, and supervision of student assistants. (20%)
  3. Undergraduate Enrollment Management and Admissions programming, outreach, and communications oversight: Serve as primary liaison to undergraduate enrollment management and admissions. Coordinate admissions/recruiting activities, including development and delivery of marketing materials and communications. Provide information to prospective students (and parents) via presentations, individual meetings, email, and phone, etc. Develop strategies and organize annual activities to increase applicant pool and to increase yield of admitted students. Coordinate with the school of management faculty and other professionals to identify opportunities to connect current students with alumni. Interpret data relating to student recruitment and admissions needs and devise creative strategies to meet those needs. Interpret data relating to retention and work with other department team members to develop efforts to increase retention. (20%)
  4. Curriculum oversight: Work cooperatively with department chairs and/or a department representative on introductory and core courses needs and offerings and general course enrollments, ensuring their faculty clear waitlists and address permission requests. Ensure departments complete general bulletin revisions. Oversee course evaluation summary. Work cooperatively with the associate dean and department chairs to supply instructors for various general education and degree-required courses and to develop general curriculum for all undergraduate students. Identify and advocate for opportunities to expand and enhance our academic portfolio (i.e. suggest/propose new majors, concentrations, and minors for faculty review and consideration). Attend various advisory board meetings to gather and share information. (20%)
  5. Pre-major Advising and Explore Programming oversight: Oversee and coordinate the allocation of faculty pre-major advisors. Work cooperatively with other department staff colleagues, and department chairs and/or department representatives to develop every semester Weatherhhead-hosted Explore activities. (10%)
  6. Academic Advising and Integrated Study oversight: Work cooperatively with department chairs and/or department representatives to ensure high quality academic advising. Gather information from departments about curricular issues. Serve as the primary liaison between faculty academic advisors and the office of undergraduate advising and support. (10%)

NONESSENTIAL FUNCITONS

  1. Wolstein Society induction and co-advising: Work cooperatively with the Weatherhead School event planning team to organize/manage all aspects of annual Wolstein Society induction event (i.e. reservations, catering, managing guest list, coordinating schedules and responsibilities of special guests, etc.), and providing guidance/support of student leader responsibilities (i.e. editing/printing of program booklet, review of presidential brief, printing of invitations). Co-advise, with the associate dean, the Wolstein Society. (5%)
  2. Awards oversight: Oversee, with assistance of department chairs and/or a department representative, the organization of selection of annual undergraduate and senior honors assembly recipients, including verification and disbursement of funds. Organize/manage selection process for annual Weatherhead School Undergraduate Teaching Award. (5%)
  3. Serve on select committees in support of the university's strategic objectives. (5%)
  4. Perform other duties as assigned. (
