Job Description
- The WPE BIW Robot Refurbishment Project Manager is responsible to oversee and manage all activities associated with robot reutilization.
- This includes forecasting robot availability at the end of production programs and planning for future reuse on upcoming new programs.
- Once identified for repurpose, this position will track the robots through extraction, shipping, storage, refurbishment, and delivery to the sourced integrator of the new program.
- Through the refurbishment process this project manager will monitor the schedule to ensure refurbished robots are delivered in time to support program timing and milestones.
- This will include interaction with robot manufacturers during the refurbishment process to oversee engineering requirements associated with hardware and software upgrades / conversions required for the new application.
- In summary, this position will own the entire process from extraction to delivery to ensure a smooth and successful reapplication.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership and communication abilities within a team setting. At least 4 years of specialized experience in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Launch, particularly focused on robot technology, performance, and reliability.
- Proven track record in handling robotic hardware, software, and applications. Strong problem-solving skills tailored to robot maintenance and recovery.
- Background in robotic weld cell integration, launch processes, and production implementation.
- Outstanding organizational and communication proficiencies.
- Thorough understanding and proficiency in sheet metal welding technologies within automated robotic systems.
- Capability to synchronize engineering resources from robot manufacturers with refurbishment endeavors to facilitate a smooth transition.
