Interim Accounting Manager

LaSalle Network has partnered with a dynamic and innovative company within the Healthcare Products space. They are focused on revolutionizing the way people experience health. Located in Des Plaines, IL they pride themselves on their commitment to excellence, creativity and pushing the boundaries of innovation. They are seeking a skilled Interim Accounting Manager to oversee their accounting operations. The Interim Accounting Manager would report directly into the Controller.
As the Interim Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining our client's financial records, ensuring accuracy, compliance and efficiency in their accounting processes. You will lead a team of accounting professionals and collaborate closely with cross-functional departments to support strategic initiatives and achieve our organizational goals. This is anticipated to be a six-month engagement with the possibility of an extension.
Interim Accounting Manager Responsibilities:
- Delegate, review and approve work of two staff accountants and two senior accountants
- Develop and maintain financial reporting processes to provide timely and accurate financial information to management and stakeholders
- Monitor key financial metrics and provide insights to support decision-making
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and accounting standards
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and tax filings
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training and performance feedback
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement within the accounting team
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency through automation and technology solutions
- Implement best practices and standardized procedures to optimize financial operations
Interim Accounting Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA certification preferred
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least two years in a supervisory role
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting and internal controls
- Proficiency in mid-range accounting software (ideally SAGE but open to NetSuite, SAP, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
