Job Summary:
The position will provide professional prophylaxis to patients; perform scaling root planning and selective polishing for designated patients. Employee will provide topical fluoride applications for designated patient and patient education session to include materials for patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with reception to schedule hygiene patients with efficiency
- Carefully review patient health and dental history forms and update as necessary
- Accurately chart each patients periodontal health
- Perform through and gentle prophylaxis to patients
- Perform head and neck examinations
- Communicate with patients in a understandable and professional way
- Graduate of an accredited school of dental hygiene
- Registered Dental Hygienist licensure in state of practice.
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience working in a dental practice
- Experience providing prophylaxis and taking X-Rays required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
- Current BLS/CPR certificate required.
- Strong working knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and practices
- Ability to comply with Sterilization & Infection Control practices through ongoing education and training.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a clinic environment
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 15 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Possess the ability to use hands to fingers, reach with arms, bend, lift, and climb stairs
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.. Work may involve some exposures to operating circumstances that require following standard or prescribed safety precautions.
