Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Great opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Design Enginee r to work for a green energy technology leader located in Southern Pines, NC.Our client is a rapidly expanding electro-mechanical technology manufacturer looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to help facilitate analysis, design changes, and new product development.ResponsibilitiesDesign/engineer components & assemblies in 2D/3D CAD system to meet all functional & structural product requirements, including manufacturability & assemblyPerform tolerance stacks and structural analysis as required to ensure designs meet requirements (Experience or knowledge of FEA (finite element analysis) a plus)Prepare component & assembly detail drawings for release to productionDevelop parts lists/BOMsHands-on support of prototype and production buildsProvide technical support to engineering, validation, purchasing, quality, and production departmentsConduct continuous improvement reviews and sustaining engineering initiatives (knowledge of Lean / 6-Sigma is a plus)Assist with data-driven approach to problem solving/root cause analysisQualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering OR equivalent experience5-10 years of design engineering/product development experience in a solid modeling-based CAD system (SolidWorks) and 2D AutoCAD LTBasic working knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning & tolerancing), DFM (design for manufacturability), and DFA (design for assembly)#J-18808-Ljbffr
