About the job Manager of Finance & Accounting (2061534)

The Manager of Finance & Accounting will report directly to the Senior Manager of Finance & Accounting. This role will be responsible for overseeing and managing the accounts payable process, ensuring it is handled accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner. In addition to day-to-day accounting tasks, the position includes preparing various journal entries and key month-end close reconciliations. The individual will also manage and review the work of external consultants supporting the month-end close. Further responsibilities involve preparing and distributing financial statements for internal and external use, including SEC reporting. The role also includes assisting with various ad-hoc projects as needed.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Process Optimization: Participate in designing and executing best-in-class procure-to-pay processes. Develop systems and processes to optimize scalability, efficiency, and internal controls.
  • Vendor Management: Assist in managing vendor contracts and purchase orders. Support the Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting in developing contract budgets.
  • Vendor Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with vendors regarding invoice questions, billing adjustments, and payment status.
  • Invoice Processing: Process and code vendor invoices promptly, enforcing financial controls through approval routing.
  • Annual Reporting: Support the annual 1099 reporting process.
  • Month-End Close: Assist with month-end close reconciliations, including preparing and reviewing monthly journal entries.
  • Accounting Support: Support all accounting functions, including financial reporting, audits, tax compliance, and day-to-day management of the accounting department.
  • Financial Data Management: Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for accurate accounting of consolidated business results, including coordination with external accounting firms and foreign entities.
  • Compliance: Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Timely Reporting: Ensure month-end activities are completed timely and financial statements are compiled and published according to organizational needs.
  • Audit Coordination: Partner with financial audit firms on annual audits and quarterly reviews of financial filings (10-K, 10-Q) and other required SEC reports.
  • Internal Controls: Evaluate and improve current accounting and internal control systems and operations, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 requirements.
  • Stock Plan Management: Help manage the stock plan administrator and recordkeeping for new grants. Serve as the primary accountant for recording stock-based compensation expenses.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Assist with special projects, including technical accounting, policy, reporting inquiries, audit support, and financial reporting, as requested by the Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting, and/or Controller.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting required.
  • 3 to 5 years of public accounting experience.
  • Big-4 or national firm audit experience required.
  • Private industry accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in the biotech or life sciences field is desired but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This role may supervise external consultants or employees supporting the Finance & Accounting team.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize diverse tasks.
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity, and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Computer Skills:
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • CPA required.
