We are hiring a Data Scientist for our Technology and Innovation Quality/Data Analytics Team. The Data Scientist will investigate and development of new innovative concepts in the refinement of high purity quartz from fundamental, laboratory and Pilot Plant scale to final industrial implementation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and collaborate in mid- to long-term Technology and Innovation (T&I) projects focusing on data science to investigate variables affecting the purification of silica, specifically, the removal of impurities via chemical etching, solution leaching, chlorination etc.
- Collect large amounts of data using analytical, statistical and programmable skills.
- Incorporate AI, machine learning, and predictive modelling into the working process.
- Understand and expand on new knowledge to propose specific advanced research activities
- Collaborate with, advise, and mentor junior staff including lab technicians and chemists
- Participate in research talks, networking events to represent Sibelco at scientific conferences
- Identify relevant partnerships in academia and/or industry
- Participate in chemistry laboratory instrumentation qualification.
- Master of Science or PhD in Chemistry, Data Science, or research-related fields
- More than 5 years in academic and/or industrial research with leadership experience
- Knowledge and ability to apply SQL Databases, Data and AI Science, Statistics, or related concepts to current challenges
- Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
- English - Advanced verbal and writing
- Local language of the country of base and main operations - proficient verbal & writing
