DESCRIPTION
Position: Lead Custodian
Qualifications:
Ability to demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks through oral and written channels of communication
Possess and apply public relations skills effectively
Custodial and maintenance work experience related to large-scale physical plant operation with educational facility experience being the most preferred
Other custodial related work experience may also qualify for consideration
A certificate of good health
Reports To: Director of Operations / Maintenance Coordinator
Consults With:
Administration, Activities Director, Custodians, Teachers, Support staff and Community members
Essential Function:
Oversee and assist assigned custodial staff to assure all work orders, performance responsibilities, regular and extra-curricular activities are completed as directed by Maintenance Coordinator
Ability to lift 70 pounds, operates machinery, communicates, work flexible hours, and has regular attendance
Posi Position Goal:
To provide a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient facility in which full educational and community use may be provided at all times
Performance Responsibilities:
Monitor the operation, maintenance and repair of all assigned buildings, grounds, and equipment
Perform district-wide maintenance/custodial duties as assigned
Maintain adequate custodial supplies throughout assigned facility
Ensure the proper storage, maintenance, and use of supplies and equipment
Comply with all district, local, state and federal rules and regulations, regarding the storage and disposal of chemicals and/or hazardous waste
Maintain buildings, premises, sidewalks, driveways, playgrounds and activity areas, neat and clean at all times
Understand and assist with the district approved Custodial Care Program, as directed by the Maintenance Coordinator
Oversee and assist in the unloading, moving or set-up of books, materials, furniture, equipment, supplies or commodities through-out school district as directed
Oversee and assist in maintaining sidewalks, drives, parking lots and playgrounds free of any snow, ice and/or debris at all times
Oversee and assist with the mowing, watering and trimming of lawns, shrubberies, flowers and trees as needed in assigned areas or as directed
Team with the district's custodial staff to perform painting, cleaning, conditioning and/or other duties throughout the district as assigned by the Maintenance Coordinator
Work any regular and/or extracurricular activity as assigned by the Maintenance Coordinator
Responds to school district emergencies after hours and/or on weekends as required
Performs other duties as required
Terms of Employment: Twelve-month position. Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one exists.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Classified Staff Evaluation.
