The Vice President is responsible for leading the acquisitions business line within Milhaus. The Vice President will lead out on pipeline generation and business development, seller negotiations, business plan formation and underwriting, and transaction oversight for a defined set of markets. The Vice President will play an active role in capital raising and portfolio construction conversations while working with the executive and capital markets teams to build a discretionary fund management business within Milhaus over time.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and maintain owner, seller and broker relations to drive pipeline opportunities that meet Milhaus' investment strategy.
  • Underwrite pipeline opportunities, analyze sale/rent comps, evaluate supply/ submarket drivers and conduct other relevant assessments for deriving an asset's business plan.
  • Present deal flow to company leadership and actively communicate deal statuses to company stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits to inform underwriting and investment merits.
  • Coordinate, when necessary, with Milhaus' operating divisions, including property management, construction, debt capital markets, asset management, development, and design, to derive sound underwriting and execution plans for pipeline assets.
  • Negotiate LOIs and purchase agreements in conjunction with internal and outside counsel.
  • Lead the due diligence process for assets by working with internal departments and external vendors to adequately assess property conditions, contracts, and risks in achieving underwritten business plans.
  • Present comprehensive investment theses and underwriting to the Investment Committee in accordance with the company's policy.
  • Continuously evaluate markets and identify opportunities and strategies to deploy capital in alignment with investor objectives.
  • Engage with investors on investment strategy, market insights and pipeline in conjunction with the Capital Markets team.
  • Engage with asset management on business plan formation & execution paths and advise on broker selection and disposition decisions as requested.
  • Mentor team members and manage a corporate P&L for the acquisitions business line. Work with company leadership on long term strategic planning for the business line.
Requirements
  • Degree in Finance, Real Estate or related field. MBA, CFA or other advanced designation preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 10 years in commercial real estate with significant experience in multifamily acquisitions.
  • Ability to succeed in an entrepreneurial environment. Strategic and forward-thinking mindset. Proven ability to creatively solve problems.
  • Able to follow necessary processes and procedures.

  • Has leadership skills and has successfully managed a team.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office
