This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer for our Phoenix office. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges. The successful candidate will provide geotechnical engineering and project management and be responsible for delivering projects to WSP's public and private sector clients. Projects generally include mining, earthen dams, transportation, and other civil works projects.

Your Impact
  • Will provide engineering and project management and be responsible for delivering geotechnical and geologic projects to WSP's public and private sector clients. Projects include transportation, commercial, power, water and mining.
  • Technical management and direction of site investigations and preparing technical reports
  • Project and budget management including resource management and oversight of project staff
  • Managing and coordinating project teams, including ensuring the technical quality of deliverables
  • Collaboration and participation in technical discussions with team members.
  • Participate in proposal efforts
  • Will travel to project sites, mostly in Arizona. Approximately 30% overnight

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering, MS or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering preferred

Arizona PE license or the ability to achieve within 6 months

10 years + relevant professional civil/geotechnical engineering experience.

Experience in two or more of the following areas:

- Transportation

- Commercial

- Power

- Water

- Mining/Mine design (tailings and heap leach)

- Foundations

- Earthen dams

- Drilling, field investigations and laboratory testing

Good communication, report writing and presentation skills

Superior time management, planning and ability to interact with clients

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team

Ability to pursue and develop clients in the public or private sectors

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Ability and willingness to travel to project sites mostly in Arizona
