Employment Type:Part timeShift:Night ShiftDescription:Position PurposeThe Patient Access Representative is responsible for pre-registration, registration and admission functions for the maternity/OB unit in the Family Life Center at Mercy Medical Center. What you will doVerify insurance requirements; obtain and understand insurance benefitsResponsible for upfront collections, co-pays and deductiblesEnsure that all entries concerning demographic, financial and advanced directives are accurateInterview all patients to obtain demographic and financial information, inputs data into EMR system. Identifies party that can legally authorize services. Sort and distribute all appropriate copies and completes all phases of registration process, i.e. other papers, patient bracelet, patient rights, Health Care Proxy infoExplain hospital policies or regulations concerning valuables, patient's rights, health care proxy, Notice to Medicare beneficiaries, and hospital missionMinimum QualificationsMinimum high school diploma or equivalent, college preferred.Medical terminology skillsRelevant medical office, hospital / physicians billing or patient registration experience preferredPosition Highlights and Benefits24 Hours per Week -2nd shift nights; rotating schedule in the OB Unit including every other weekend - differentials applyFull benefits package available for part timeMinistry/Facility InformationMercy Medical Center has established itself as one of the leading providers of health care services in Western Massachusetts.
