Project Manager / Senior Project Manager Full?time position with Carson City Public Works. Depending on experience, the role could be Project Manager or Senior Project Manager. Salary: $78,107.19 $124,971.50 annually for Project Manager; $85,917.84 $137,468.56 annually for Senior Project Manager. Responsibilities Coordinate and supervise major and minor construction and renovation projects, ensuring plans, specifications, codes, schedules, and budgets are adhered to. Perform engineering work related to project coordination and supervision. Provide complex inspections of projects, confer with contractors and consultants on development and completion. Plan, supervise, review, and evaluate work of support staff (Senior Project Manager only). Conduct feasibility and cost studies; develop engineering solutions for infrastructure projects. Prepare project designs, cost estimates, specifications, and schedules (Senior Project Manager). Compose RFPs and contract specifications, select contractors, administer professional service contracts. Serve as field representative, conduct inspections, manage change orders. Negotiate contracts, prepare bid proposals, select contractors, serve as primary contact. Review plans, maps, job specifications, lab reports, contracts for compliance with codes and regulations. Interpret and enforce regulations and policies to developers, contractors, and other agencies. Prepare daily progress notes, identify needed changes, recommend alternatives. Drive motor vehicle to attend meetings and site visits. Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior with officials, public, contractors, and staff. Additional Duties (Senior Project Manager) Conduct feasibility and cost studies; develop engineering solutions to complex problems related to bridges, storm or sanitary sewers, roadways, water systems, flood control systems, and office or plant facility design and retrofitting. Prepare project designs, cost estimates, specifications and project schedules. Compose RFPs and contract specifications for design and construction services; participate in selection of contractors and administer professional service contracts. Plan, organize, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of support staff. Qualifications Education: Bachelors Degree in engineering or a closely related field. Experience: 4 years civil engineering experience (Project Manager) or 4 years professional civil engineering experience (Senior Project Manager). Required certificates/licenses: Valid drivers license; Nevada Professional Engineer registration (Project Manager must obtain within 6 months, Senior Project Manager must be registered at time of hire). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Engineering objectives, principles, procedures, standards, and practices. Statistical analysis and mathematical concepts related to engineering. Engineering graphics and drafting terminology, symbols, methods, techniques, and instruments. Materials and soils analysis and grading principles. Computer applications related to the work. Engineering mathematics. Business letter writing and standard typed material format. Record keeping principles and practices. Safety principles and practices. Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, punctuation. Applicable laws, codes, regulations. Project design and management principles and techniques. Techniques for dealing with individuals at all levels in person and over the phone. Skills Researching, analyzing, and summarizing engineering data manually and with computer applications. Interpreting maps, plans, specifications, graphs, statistical data. Performing complex engineering calculations quickly and accurately. Preparing clear, concise, complete technical documents and reports. Exercising independent judgment within procedures. Maintaining effective working relationships. Understanding and applying federal, state, local laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. Representing the City effectively in meetings with developers, contractors, business and community groups. Communicating effectively orally and in writing. Supervision Under general supervision. The incumbent is given assignments and objectives governed by outlines. Immediate supervision is not consistent; checks are integrated into work processes. Physical Demands & Working Environment Work in office setting, use standard office equipment. Stamina to sit for extended periods. Ability to negotiate construction sites and rough terrain. Strength to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Vision and hearing for communication. Exposure to traffic conditions and external environment when traveling.
