Location Water & Sewer - Fort Walton Beach, FL Full-Time Job Number 24-093 Water & Sewer Opening Date 04/18/2024 Closing Date 5/1/2024 at 11:59 PM Central Time (US & Canada) Provides end-user technical support, maintenance, and installation related to computer hardware, software and peripheral devices utilized by the Water & Sewer Department. Builds custom queries, and develops reports in response to various management requests for data. EXAMPLES OF WORK

• Coordinates technology and data management with the Information Technology Department; follows departmental and Information Technology Department policies and procedures relating to the acquisition, operation, security, and maintenance of premise and cloud-based technology, data and related services. • Installs, maintains, configures, and diagnoses errors of operating systems, hardware, and software relating to computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, cloud based systems, printers, scanners and other technology. • Provides first line support for all Water & Sewer applications: Customer information and inventory system platform, IVR, and software and processes related to document management, data mining, cross connection control and antenna based meter reading, etc. • Facilitates and documents all Water & Sewer IT related employee onboarding and exit activities; including physical access control assignments, user access rights within Active Directory and various other software applications, smartphone administration, laptop administration, etc. • Provides immediate end-user technical support, in-person and over the phone, for all Water & Sewer software and hardware. • Builds ad-hoc custom AS400, SQL, and Cognos queries; develops and provides reports in response to various requests for data. • Creates and maintains accurate and thorough documentation of department related IT infrastructure, processes and procedures. • Configures applications to interface with existing software; maintains and upgrades programs and applications; acts as liaison for vendors. • Organizes and manages special projects such as software integration, upgrades, and conversions. Prepares detailed plans, tests prior to implementation; coordinates with coworkers and the Okaloosa County IT department. • Assists in managing the IBM AS/400 (iSeries) system in a Cloud environment; manages associated software changes and enhancements. • Restores user and department data following unintentional data deletions. • Researches, evaluates and provides recommendations for new hardware or software. • Fulfills job duties of the Utility Technology Supervisor in their absence; assists the Utility Technology Supervisor with complex applications and special projects. • Assists in the development and processing of utility bills. • Responds to after-hour emergencies as needed. • Performs related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience:

Associate’s degree in computer science, information management or closely related field supplemented by three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the IT field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience with Microsoft Windows applications and operating systems required. Knowledge of basic networking, remote desktop server management and TCP/IP required. Experience with IBM AS/400 – System I platform, Queries (SQL or Cognos) and CentralSquare applications preferred. Experience as Project Lead preferred. Licenses and/or Certifications:

Microsoft or IBM certification preferred. Requires a valid driver license. OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including computers, telephones, facsimile machines, copiers, etc. Must be able to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push and pull or otherwise move objects. Requires full range of body motion in manipulation of limbs and torso for climbing ladders, stairs and working in confined spaces. Must be able to bend legs at knees to come to rest on knee(s). Must be able to reach, extending hand(s) in any directions. Must be able to handle, seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with hand(s). Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Physical demands are essentially those of sedentary work. Language Ability:

Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to convey, record and exchange information; requires the ability to explain procedures and to give, receive and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical and/or professional languages used within the parameters of the job. Requires ability to read a variety of moderately to highly complex technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, etc. Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats, and adhering to all rules of grammar, spelling, diction and punctuation. Requires the ability to use and interpret modern programming languages. Requires the ability to communicate with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds. Intelligence:

Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of technical instructions in written, mathematical or diagrammatic form; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation. Must have highly developed analytical skills. Numerical Aptitude:

Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide, use decimals and determine percentages, to calculate decimals and percentages. Interpersonal Temperament:

Requires the ability to tactfully and effectively interact with the public and with co-workers. Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with frequent deadlines and public contact. Must be able to multi-task under extremely stressful situations without losing concentration.
