POSITION SUMMARY:

Bring your talents to a team that interacts with departments across QBP The Customs Compliance Specialist I is responsible for the preparation of Customs entry documentation. This position assists the Customs Compliance Manager with preparing Customs protests, duty drawback, reconciliation, conducting Customs compliance audits, HTS classification and supporting and improving import and export compliance processes. The Customs Compliance Specialist I works to minimize disruption to Q's supply chain by proactively addressing regulatory requirements. This position reports to the Customs Compliance Manager, who reports to the Director of Tax and Compliance.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Prepare and submit pre-entry documentation to Customs brokers.
  • Conduct product research for HTS codes in the US, Canada, Taiwan, as well as ECCN classification, and country of origin.
  • Preparation of Customs protest, post-entry amendments, duty drawback, and reconciliation.
  • Maintain relationships with Customs brokers in US and Canada.
  • Conduct import and export audits for compliance in the US and Canada.
  • Screen SPL for all QBP business partners and employees.
  • Collect, track, and review vendor documentation for CTPAT risk assessment.
  • Develop vendor action plans for CTPAT compliance.
  • Manage import and export blocks within the SAP Global Trade Services system.
  • Request updated NAFTA certificates and other relevant FTAs.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Preferably possess 2 years experience in the import/export industry (e.g., importer, exporter, or Customs house broker), or relevant college coursework in fields such as supply chain, logistics, businesses, or international business.
  • Required familiarity with GRIs, HTS, and country of origin processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate ideas, coordinate tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Strong aptitude for identifying, researching, and evaluating Customs compliance issues.
  • Experience or strong desire and aptitude to learn duty drawback
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with a diverse group, including executives, managers, coworkers, vendors, and service providers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Robust investigative and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Eagerness and aptitude for continuous learning and improvement.
  • Diligence in following established procedures with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to successfully navigate gray-area decision-making.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with trade compliance software such as GTS, S4Hana, OMB.
  • Canadian import experience.
  • Experience CTPAT program management.
