POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President, Purchasing is responsible for leading the procurement of all food, packaging, equipment, and routine supply items for Carl's Jr and Hardee's restaurants.This position will ensure uninterrupted supply of both current and new product inventory to corporate and franchise locations. cooperatively managing supply agreements for Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurants to maximize leveraged spending initiatives that benefit both brands.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures the purchasing strategy and processes align with the Company's overall strategic direction including financial objectives, and guest experience.
  • Oversees commodity management, vendor selection and evaluation, contract management, competitive sourcing, and product planning.
  • Partners with the marketing and culinary to source ingredients that meet the quality & price requirements of the organization for ongoing menu development.
  • Works closely with Finance to accurately forecast supply chain costs and manage the adherence to the annual operating plan.
  • Cooperatively manages supply agreements for Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurants to maximize leveraged spending initiatives that benefit both brands. Ensures new product pricing projections and reliable supplier selection.
  • Evaluates and develops strategic supplier relationships, oversees contract negotiations, and implements processes for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Leads ongoing efforts to achieve continuous improvement of the supply chain function through evaluation of new technologies and industry best practices.
  • Ensures compliance with our food standards and product specifications are met by our vendor partners.
  • Provides routine reports including periodic cost variance reports, commodity position reports, unconditional purchase obligation reports and contract summaries.
  • Provides franchise partners with quarterly reviews, presentations, and newsletters.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Ten + years of experience in supply chain strategy, product management, strategic sourcing, and procurement.
  • Significant prior experience with managing franchisee and supplier relationships.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience that provides a commanding knowledge of supply chain management fundamentals including economics, commodities, and supplier oversight.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
  • Thorough understanding of foodservice purchasing and distribution systems, in addition to detailed knowledge of food and packaging suppliers, product quality attributes and cost structures.
  • Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to coach and development a large team.
  • Thorough knowledge of food commodity markets and hedging/forward buying techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of product quality specifications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be capable of travel (approximately 25%)
  • Intermediate level of computer skills including Excel, Word, Power Point applications
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills and possess the ability to identify and implement process improvement strategies with positive business results.
  • High level of confidentiality to ensure proper handling of sensitive information
