Scope of the Position

The Human Resource Coordinator aids with and facilitates the human resource processes at all business locations. The Human Resource Coordinator will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The Human Resource Coordinator makes that certain that policies are followed in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry. 

Responsibilities

  • Prior Ceridian/Dayforce experience. Implementation a plus
  • Payroll experience
  • Union experience a plus
  • Disability management through third party vendors; short term, long term, & FMLA.
  • HR Generalist experience
  • Supporting benefits administration, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness and employee engagement
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, and anti-harassment training.
  • Facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Work with managers to develop career pathways for employees utilizing area colleges.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Recommending new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Process weekly payroll.
  • Assist in assembling digital employee files
  • Participating in employee relations matters and exit interviews
  • Establishing and maintaining department records and reports
  • Participating in administrative staff and other meetings as needed; representing HR in discussions and projects
  • Recommending new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Supporting hiring process for all exempt, non-exempt, temporary and student positions, including internal and external posting of positions, communication with candidates, related paperwork, working with reference checks, background checks, credential verification
  • Participating in the design and maintenance of the orientation process and system, and training and competency requirements.
  • Maintaining communication with payroll administration to ensure that all adjustments and status changes are recorded and properly; processing payroll as needed
  • Directing onboarding and off boarding processes and communicating with departments involved and affected by employee status changes
  • Supporting HRIS system and alignment with organizational processes, including implementation, updates, troubleshooting, communications and resolution
  • Daily point of contact for employees and people managers related to HR policies, procedures and programs.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relation issues, conducts investigations and handles employee relations counseling with related employee population.
  • Coordinates the recruiting and staffing initiatives required for the facility, including background checks and pre-employment drug testing in conjunction with the Manager, Talent Acquisition and corporate processes.
  • Coordinates new employee orientation/onboarding activities, employee development and training, and associated recordkeeping.
  • Coordinates documentation and communication of Worker’s Compensation-related issues with the Director, EHS as well as with state agencies and/or insurance representatives as required or requested.
  • Participate in Safety initiatives throughout the plant with leadership.
  • Flexible for 24/7 shift meetings for employee engagement and communication meetings.
  • Prepare presentations for internal communications. (i.e., monthly birthdays and work anniversary for bulletin boards)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College degree with relevant work experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Customer Service mindset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Understand core business objectives and how HR goals link to business priorities.
