Senior User Experience Researcher

The User Experience (UX) team is responsible for creating intuitive, easy to use, and accessible customer journeys for the company's customers: members, employers, brokers, and providers. The Sr. User Experience Researcher partners with User Experience Designers, Product Owners and members of agile crews to help them understand customers' needs. This role executes complex research initiatives, owns the process from end to end, and mentors junior researchers. This role is responsible for researching plans that select appropriate methodologies and align with the product roadmap and can execute them to generate strategic insights that influence product roadmaps and prioritization. The Sr. User Experience Researcher presents these results in a persuasive and engaging way, and tailors communication to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Executes complex research initiatives that support a wide spectrum of product development activities from tactical delivery to high level strategy and owns the process from end to end, including selecting appropriate research methodologies, recruiting appropriate participants, and executing studies.
  • Analyzes data to identify user needs and breakdowns in flows and brings together data from multiples sources and studies to create actionable insights.
  • Prioritizes research objectives based on the project roadmap and focuses on delivering results that help to meet business objectives.
  • Presents results in an engaging, thought provoking, and persuasive way, and tailors the message to a wide range of audiences.
  • Contributes to research operations and adds to a library of research best practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Lead User Experiencer Researcher

The User Experience (UX) team is responsible for creating intuitive, easy to use, and accessible customer journeys for the company's customers: members, employers, brokers, and providers. The Lead User Experience Researcher partners with User Experience Designers, Product Owners and members of agile crews to help them to understand customers' needs. This role leads the research strategy across a suite of products, leading and mentoring the research team to ensure that research plans are prioritized to meet product and business objectives, and allocating the team's time to make sure projects are appropriately staffed. This role also looks to elevate the discipline of User Experience Research at the company by establishing and evolving research best practices and educating cross-functional partners across the company.
  • Leads research strategy across the company's entire suite of products and ensures that research plans align to a vision that helps us to achieve our product and business goals.
  • Allocates team resources to ensure that research plans are appropriately staffed, prioritized, and aligned to the product roadmap.
  • Synthesizes data and makes connections from many different sources, including research studies, competitive analysis, and other internal and external sources to provide deeper insights.
  • Builds relationships to evangelize design across teams and presents results that demonstrate how research drives the success of business objectives.
  • Educates and enables cross-functional team members as partners in the research process and utilizes them to assist in conducting research as appropriate.
  • Drives research operations and establishes a library of research best practices.
  • Coaches and mentors researchers and elevates the skills of the User Experience Research team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Senior User Experience Researcher

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Behavioral Science, Human Factors, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, or other research or design related fields.

5 years of experience designing and conducting user research studies.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:
  • User research methods such as interviews, surveys, usability studies, card sorting, contextual inquiry and more
  • Participant recruitment
  • Research documentation in Confluence or other knowledge sharing software
  • Research facilitation in person and using UserTesting.com
  • Analytical and critical thinking
