Director, IT Infrastructure

We are partnering with a highly acquisitive, PE backed manufacturing organization looking to add a Director, IT Infrastructure to their team. Reporting to the CIO, this is a vital leadership position within the organization, requiring strong business skills, a sharp customer service focus, and a strong passion for efficient operations. The role will oversee constant and effective coordination with various business units to ensure agreement on current and future technology needs within the fast-growing business.

The Director leads a team of seven people and multiple third-party relationships. Leadership duties include managing the capital budget, overseeing projects, and ensuring adherence to regulations and industry standards. Other responsibilities include leading IT staff, working with vendors and MSPs, supervising daily operations, and cybersecurity operations, and coordinating technology installations, upgrades, and maintenance.

The candidate may reside in one of the following locations: Greater Dallas/Fort Worth; Greater Oklahoma City; Greater Chicago; Los Angeles, CA; Denver, CO; Wichita Falls, TX; Candidate must be willing to travel to various plant and office locations at least 2-3X per quarter. Trips are planned and typically flexible on timing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic IT Planning:

Collaborate closely with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to craft and execute a comprehensive IT Infrastructure Strategy in alignment with overarching business goals and specific objectives for manufacturing plants.

Engage with key stakeholders to pinpoint and prioritize IT projects, placing a strong emphasis on bolstering security measures while bolstering plant operations.

Supervise the development, deployment, and upkeep of a resilient and scalable IT framework, emphasizing uninterrupted functionality and robustness.

Technical Leadership:

Spearhead a proficient team of IT specialists tasked with overseeing hosts, virtual machines (VMs), storage, networking, firewalls, and load balancers.

Offer expertise in Office365 and Azure cloud operations, with a dedicated focus on fortifying cloud technologies’ security aspects.

Ensure the continuous high availability, security, and performance levels across all IT systems.

Actively monitor and troubleshoot issues affecting cloud services, network connectivity, and security protocols.

Help Desk Management:

Direct the performance assessment of a third-party helpdesk provider.

Collaborate with various business units to ascertain appropriate helpdesk service level agreements (SLAs), guaranteeing swift and accurate resolution of technical matters.

Lead an onsite team of L2, L3, and Network Engineers while serving as the escalation point for outsourced helpdesk services.

Cloud Services and Architecture:

Utilize extensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure and other cloud platforms to uphold optimal performance standards while ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Continuously refine cloud resources to enhance security, resilience, and scalability.

Implement and enforce stringent security protocols to safeguard cloud assets.

Collaboration and Communication:

Forge strong partnerships with cross-functional teams, spanning manufacturing, e-commerce, and other business divisions.

Provide regular updates to senior management on IT operations and performance metrics through standardized Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and dashboards.

Requirements:

Education: Preference for candidates holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Consideration may be given to individuals with a combination of education and experience.

Certifications: Preferred qualifications include certifications in Azure, AWS, ITIL, CISSP, VCP, CISM, or CISA.

Customer Service: Demonstrated excellence in customer service with a strong commitment to prompt issue resolution. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, from executive leadership to frontline plant personnel.

Experience:Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in IT engineering, cloud operations, or service desk management.

At least 2 years of prior leadership experience, preferably in IT Engineering.

Familiarity with plant manufacturing processes is advantageous.

Proficiency in project management and organizational skills.

Thorough understanding of IT infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
