Inpatient Occupational Therapist

Job Description
Performs patient evaluations and re-evaluations, establishes patient treatment plan based upon the referral from the physician/referral source. Documents the patients care and directs supportive staff regarding treatment process. Provides leadership to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, Students, Rehab Aides and Volunteers.
+ Reviews physician referral, patients condition and medical history to determine occupational therapy treatment needs.
+ Performs and documents patient evaluation, re-evaluation and develops treatment and discharge plans.
+ Plans and administers medically prescribed occupational therapy treatments to patients.
+ Designs and constructs special equipment for adaptation of individuals work and living environment.
+ Plans programs involving activities, practice in functional, pre-vocational, vocational, homemaking skills, activities of daily living and sensory motor activities.
+ Modifies treatment goals and plan of care as appropriate. Involved with patient care conferences as appropriate.
+ Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
+ Responsible for overall management of patient cases including communication and coordination of care with treatment team.
+ Precepts in the direction and evaluation of clinical experience / internship of students from participating colleges or universities.
+ Orients, instructs and directs the work activities of assistants, aides, students and volunteers.
+ Stays abreast of current developments and new technology in occupational therapy.
+ Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Mission and Core Values. Adheres to standards and policies, laws and regulations. Demonstrates the ABCs of Mercy Health Culture. Holds self and others accountable.
4 year/Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required
Licensed in State of Ohio PT/OT/AT Board
CPR Certification
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with co-workers, physicians, patients and families. Analytical abilities to evaluate patient condition, capabilities and progress. Complies with all applicable laws and regulations and practices.
