Overview Bowman has an opportunity for a Transportation Assistant Project Manager to join our team in Richmond, VA. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance. Supervise the work of project personnel to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards. Provide mentorship through counsel, guidance, and knowledge to junior staff as a key component to their professional development. At the Operational and Company Level Work closely with more senior members to learn about and assist with transportation engineering and planning work. Do the Work Work independently and with proficiency in completing technical project tasks as needed for numerous elements of a project. Assist in project management or direction of tasks on projects and monitor project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget. Assist with budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and client management tasks. Draft transmittals, memos, meeting minutes, letters, proposals, and other documentation/communications. Prepare reports, plans, specifications, construction schedules, cost estimates, permits and/or designs for projects. Assist in developing the scope of work for projects and development of the plan to accomplish projects. Monitor project deliverable schedules and compile project status reports. Provide technical assistance in the resolution of project challenges and provide technical quality control of multiple assigned projects. Prepare client presentations and attend public meetings. Review project changes, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract, additional work requests, and other factors. Assist with preparation of monthly billings/project invoices. Serve as the liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and project teams, related to project elements, such as technical requirements, completion requirements, and billing inquiries. Lead in the preparation of proposals. Lead the submission of technical product for a variety of project types. Supervise the work of project staff to ensure satisfaction of the highest professional standards. Follow established firms goals, SOPs and QA/QC proceduresand assist in the QA/QC review of technical work of other staff. Assist and mentor junior staff. Prepare and serve in a lead role for work on various analyses and design aspects of engineering projects which may include: traffic studies, traffic operations, traffic signal design, ITS design, corridor projects, lighting design, safety projects, and other associated engineering services. Qualifications Bachelors degree in civil engineering or related field required. Eight or more (8+) years of professional engineering experience with an emphasis on transportation engineering or related field. Demonstrated experience leading engineering projects or major task elements, with transportation engineering projects strongly preferred. EIT Registration required, or alternatively, nine or more (9+) years of successful transportation engineering experience required. Professional Engineer (PE) Registration or ability to receive within six (6) months strongly preferred. Experience with the preparation of construction plans and/or studies for roadway or traffic projects required. Experience directing tasks and performing QA/QC required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Valid state driver's license and ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle check or reliable form of transportation to/from the office and/or project site strongly preferred.
