Overview

The Director, US Patient Services Marketing, Strategy & Innovation will be responsible for developing and executing on Alnylam's Patient Services strategy and tactics with a focus on the needs of patients currently enrolled in Alnylam Assist as well as future pipeline products and new indications. S/he will leverage all communication channels to drive an exceptional customer experience and reduce time-to-therapy for patients engaging with the service model for educational needs and/or initiating treatment with an Alnylam product. This individual will also lead the US Patient Services Marketing team, which is collectively responsible for creating and implementing strategies across Alnylam's protfolio to support patients/caregivers and HCP audiences. In close partnership with the TTR and Rare Brand Marketing teams, the Director of US Patient Services Marketing, Strategy & Innovation will identify additional educational opportunities across stakeholders in support of Alnylam's commercial business.

This position will report to the Senior Director, US Patient Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead US Patient Services Marketing function for Alnylam's best-in-class patient support services program Alnylam Assist . Critical in this position will full accountability for re-branding the program to convey an elevated patient experience and one that is aligned with Alnylam's "patient first" philosophy
  • Collaborate with US brand Marketing leads for Alnylam's TTR and Rare franchises, including extensive preparation for upcoming, potential expansion into ATTR amyloidosis and throughout all stages of marketing communications and campaign strategies
  • Lead the development and execution of the Alnylam Assist website and Patient Educational Liaison (PEL) digital offerings working in close collaboration with the Global Digital Engagement Team in Commercial and the Strategic Technologies team
  • Evaluate new technologies and services that would enhance current strategy. Stay abreast of industry trends and ensure Alnylam Assist offerings remain on the leading edge of innovation to optimize high-touch, personal interactions when warranted
  • Assess patient support needs and problem-solve areas critical for exceptional customer experience
  • Contribute to the development of a patient community engagement plan in partnership with the brand Marketing Teams and the Alnylam Advocacy team (I.e. programs, walks, community events, etc.)
  • Develop materials that increase provider and patient/caregiver awareness of Alnylam's patient support services
  • Serve as the US Patient Services marketing point-of-contact for the TTR and Rare brand marketing teams and Patient Advocacy
  • Remain current with market trends in both the provider and patient services landscape through regular research, interactions with brand management and involvement to ensure that all patient service's activities reflect actual business/organizational needs while meeting the needs of the target audience and maintaining highest quality of service
  • Represent patients and their families within Alnylam, helping us to meet their needs
  • Collaborate with legal, regulatory, and compliance stakeholders to ensure compliance with patient support strategy / tactics and internal development and rollout of all collateral
  • Effectively manage and maintain relationships with Agency Partners; ensure that workload index for vendors is monitored effectively and efficiently, soliciting process improvements when necessary

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree (science or business degree preferred) with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry or at an agency working with pharmaceutical / biotech clients
  • 5-7+ years of proven experience in marketing and a comprehensive understanding of patient and provider support services programs
  • Launch experience and commercialization of new products highly preferred
  • Demonstrated capability to design, implement and deliver superior program branding that will highlight Alnylam's commitment to patients
  • Comprehensive understanding of digital ecosystems, tools and digital media channels globally
  • Experience in developing and executing HCP and patient materials for support services programs in the US
  • Understanding of how desktop, mobile, social, search, paid, earned and other online and offline channels influence a consumer's journey
  • Broad awareness of and passion for the latest developments in digital marketing required
  • Patient-centric and customer service minded
  • Experience in rare disease strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and work with cross-functional teams in the development and delivery of strategic imperatives
  • Proven ability in managing external agencies and vendors
  • Proven project / program management / budget experience
